Someone other than me needs to compare his shooting percentages to the players we have lost. Wes and Nic and LA.
Henderson seems to have a good floater from mid range. I hope Dame has that better developed this year. It is one of the best weapons that was very effective against us last year.
Leonard and Henderson should play a lot of minutes together. Leonard is probably our best 3 point shooter. He will draw his big man out of the paint, or make him pay with a 3. When the big guarding Leonard does leave the paint that will give Henderson more room to penetrate and play his game. Dame’s long ball threat will also help to take some of the defensive paint pressure off of Henderson. Plus most teams will need to guard Henderson with their best defender, or, lose him on the drive. This will take D pressure off of Dame. I can see Dame, Henderson and Leonard being an un-stoppable scoring combination, with D specialist at C & SF. This roster just might work.
It would be nice if the SF playing with them could help spread the floor as well. It will be interesting to see if Aminu's shooting in the playoffs was an anomaly or not. He would not have to shoot that often, just keep the defense honest. Crabbe could also help spread the floor on occasion.
you know, not only does he finish like i always screamed for batum to. he also moves without the fucking ball like i always wanted batum to. factor in what he's getting paid and i think this was a steal.
Well, shots from between 3-10 were his worst. 35.6% But Damian was worse from there ate 26%. Damian improved so much on his inside shots last year though, bumping his average up from 51% to 64%.But his shooting from beyond 16 feet slipped by 5%. He he could get that back up, he'll be a monster.
Agreed. I thought this when the trade first happened and I haven't seen or read anything that makes me think otherwise. It just makes far more sense to start Henderson and bring CJ off the bench. It gives Dame another proven starter (and ball handler) to work with, and it lets CJ dominate the ball when he's on the court. It gives the team much more balance. (And I just don't think CJ will ever be a starter - at least not with a PG like Dame.) That's also why I think it'd be good to have Plumlee be our back-up C, as I think he will provide reliable scoring in the 2nd unit to give CJ some breathing room. But I can also see how it might be more beneficial to have Plumlee's scoring in the starting unit.
Henderson has a different kind of athleticism, and is a different style player, from Batum -- And more importantly, from Wes. I like it.
I'm not sold on this guy. His ORtg has been lower than his DRtg for his entire career. Last year, CJ was a 103 / 105 (O / D)... not great by any stretch of the imagination. People talk about CJ/ Lillard being an awful combo on defense. Last year, Hendo was 102 / 106. He's a career 102 / 109.
Would his 82games on/of court numbers help? Last year, Charlotte was basically even with their opponents when Hendo played, but -7.2 when he didn't. His absence made their defense over 4 pts/100 worse, almost identical to Matthews'. Also, his PER allowed figures were actually better than Wes', and were even better than that the year before. New situation, new teammates, new opportunity for Hendo. Especially playing alongside Aminu, I am not worried about his defense.
That does help a bit yeah. But starters always look good if their replacements on the bench suck. Who was backing up Hendo?
Don't players on bad teams generally have bad O/Drtg? If a player doesn't have good teammates around him he will be a lot less effective than he would otherwise be.
Looks like Gary Neal (on/off -2.4), as well as Lance Stephenson (-6.5), who was terrible backing up both Hendo and MKG.
