<div class="quote_poster">Quoting custodianrules2:</div><div class="quote_post">I would love to get Darko. There's nothing like a 7 foot tall, blonde haired Eastern European victory cigar to throw out there when you're smoking the other team by 30 points. Also, how does one break his hand on an easy dunk attempt and miss several easy dunks. It's like having more athletic, more skilled Adonal Foyle.

I like Alonzo Mourning. I think he's better than anything we have right now even if he had a slab of Alpo for a liver and kidney.</div>

Darko is like Foyle on heavy meds. Against some summer ball longshots,he can look above average. In the big time,he's been too apathetic, content to go through the motions and cash a check. Once a month he may give a f--k and actually play almost as good as Zarko for 5 mins. best case...in a few years he can play almost as good as Zarko for 10 mins.[IMG] Worst case...a mere shadow of Todd Fuller.[IMG]

Darko actually reminds me of Dunleavy Jr on meds. If you think about it, both were picked very high based on their knowledge of the game, court vision, versatility, ballhandling, shooting, size and technical skills of the game. The difference is Darko belongs in the department of the rare athletic, long 7 footer that is multi-skilled which can make a nice franchise guy at PF on the offensive and defensive end.

Darko and Dunleavy started out in the league not equipped to handle the game physically, both have showed flashes of greatness, and then disappeared. Darko has gotten way less minutes than Dunleavy has per game, but both are subject to immense scrutiny because they were picked top 3 lotto in the draft. Fans get pissed at Darko for missing layups, fans get pissed at Dunleavy for airballing free throws and three point shots.

Dunleavy has a better attitude than Darko, but Darko and Dunleavy both need to adjust to the game slowly. Maybe both their development styles should have been slower paced before they jumped into the NBA. Darko could have spent more time in Europe getting stronger and Dunleavy could have spent more time on the bench in the NBA or stayed in college until he got more physically developed as well. Other sticks like Tayshaun Prince/Andrei Kirilenko were probably a lot stronger than Dunleavy his rookie year.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CohanHater:</div><div class="quote_post">Numbers are deceiving. He shoots a low precentage for a 4, gets a lot of rebounds because Guys like Foyle seal their guys off the boards and he roams free to get them, is stagnant on offense, and is quite possibly the worst defending power forward in the league (Maybe the worst overall defending starter in the league). The opposing power forwards look like all-stars putting up season highs against him routinely. He can't play in the post, and our centers get in foul trouble because they're out of position trying to help him weak side to stop the driving power forward from getting to the rim.

    Is that enough?</div>

Yeah, that should just about do it.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AnimeFANatic:</div><div class="quote_post">Pistons would be even more unstoppable with either of those picks.</div>

It woulda set off a different "trade route" and different decisions for the pistons.

I for one always knew he could play and I really wanted him. He blocks more shots than Foyle also in like 20 mins a game. He has great size, shotblocking skills, and range on all his shots. He would have been perfect for us I think.

He's bigger and stronger than, well, probably anyone on our team. And he'd probably be the 3rd best outside shooter on the team. The kid can stroke it from anywhere on the court, ala Nowitzki. I've heard the supposed "attitude" problems, but Allen Iverson had attitude problems too. It appears Darko is going to be a franchise player in Orlando for years to come.

Considering the situation he was in in Detroit, I'm sure he had an attitude. And I think Orlando's franchise player will be Dwight.

Yeah, without a doubt, good call -- Dwight Howard will be one of the top 10 players in the league for years to come.

But Darko could very well be the "other" twin tower. With those two together, and Jameer nelson -- damn! -- the Magic have something going there.

Doesn't Darko become a FA this offseason? I hope he's not a restricted FA, I'd like to nab him at a reasonable price. Or trade for him and try to get one of Orlando's many PG's with Darko. Though I'm just dreaming here.

Darko has one more year on his rookie contract.

Either way, it's a little early to talk about bringing him in when you've got Ike and Biedrins.
Biedrins in particular has shown as much, if not more, than Darko in far less time.

To me Darko is a more polished Biedrins. Bigger in size and can shoot the ball. If Biedrins could hit his FT's I think he'd be playing a lot more. I can see those 2 clashing against each other in the future as good centers.

They're very different players IMO. I like Biedrins. He's much more high-energy. He's a hustle player, springy, blocking shots, diving and scrapping for loose balls, strong finisher in the paint.

Darko looks much more controlled, can dribble quite well for his size, and has deep range on his jumper.

Both look to be very good in the future.
