However if you're in it for the long haul, that's not something I'd be too concerned with. Especially since you live in the area. If bandwagonness really is a big problem for you. I'd stay clear of becoming a Cowboys or Patriots fan.
We won the Championship last year and everyone is still on the bandwagon of a team that hasn't won a playoff game in over a decade and choked at home last year and another team that has been exposed cheating. Nobody can accuse our fans of being bandwagoners, we're underappreciated!
Claud I promise you that if you become a Cowboys fan I won't consider you a bandwagon fan. Neither will anyone on S2, since it's now well documented that you thought this through before picking a winner. I also promise you that if you choose the Giants I will stop respecting you (as I do every single one of the S2 Giants fans. No exceptions) (but seriously)
my advice, watch the first 8 weeks, watch as many different teams as you can, watch the highlights etc.. and THEN choose a team based on the vibe you get from that team. I grew up a Cowboys fan because it's the team my dad liked (ditto the Celtics). If you don't have that kind of tradition, check out some teams before you choose.

Clearly the Chiefs are the way to go. You can get in on the ground floor of the rebuilding project of one of the youngest teams in the league. You can be on board next year when history is made and Carl Peterson is fired. You will be able to say, I was a fan when they sucked. And friend, there's really nowhere to go but up. Oh, and I nearly forgot that you would be revered for making fun of the Bozos in the Black Hole.
