??? Look, have him defend SG, sure. But he would be the worst dribbler I've ever seen at guard. He's barely adequate for SF.

Imagine if we'd offered Steve Kerr the combined coach AND GM.
Is there somebody (like, say, Spoelstra) we could do that for THIS time? I'm not wedded to Chauncey!

Everybody realizes it will be Cronin at least until the end of the season, right? We're not getting a savior right away.

If Cronin wants to be considered for the job long term, he may be inclined to find the big deal that impresses Jody Allen. Maybe he becomes the savior.

notice that I qualified that list as con's for current GM's. I explicitly said that guys like current assitsnt GM's would view the promotion as such

The club already mentioned his replacement in their statement, he’s just a placeholder. Doubt he’ll even have the power to make any moves.

    Lol
This reminds me of the people saying we were like the 10th best head coaching job behind places like…

    NEW ORLEANS LOL

    (not saying that was you)

But, in general, I agree with your premise that getting an established GM from another team is going to be tough sledding. Unless that team has terrible ownership (Knicks?).

Also, money? I hope… can sway some minds lol

been reading up some of these dudes.

Stay the hell away from Scott Perry. His track record is miserable.

Eversley also, I'm lukewarm on. Bulls are OK now, but there's a very clear ceiling with that roster and some of the decisions from last summer might hinder their growth moving forward financially. Eversley apparently gets credit for some of their summer moves. I'm more intrigued by the connections he made with players while at Nike than his short tenure with the Bulls. Even with Philly, it's hard to figure out what his contributions were.

Think I'm leaning more towards Barry and Prince, because of their backgrounds as players but neither has been executive for very long. I like that Barry has been in San Antonio but it's hard to figure out what he actually did there. Same with Prince-- I like his obvious connection with Chauncey, but can we pinpoint to a single move that either contributed heavily towards? That's on the organization to find out. Hope everyone gets a fair interview and they take a calculated decision.

By the way, I don't know Prince's relationship with Billups, but getting a GM who isn't on the same page as Billups could be a potential disaster. Or potentially great if you think Billups is a bad coach. Dame is probably gone in the latter scenario though.

Honestly, I'm not sure Billups' future should carry a lot of weight when picking the new GM.
