You do realize that you just explained "God". I knew you were a closet Theist! Then again you believe in supernatural events like self replicating molecules able to generate from non genetic life.
Like believing in something as supernatural as a molecule self replicating from non-genetic material? Because the natural occurrence is genetics are required to create new genetics. It is unnatural to expect something without genetic life manifest from non-genetic materials
Why? Seriously, why? Incoherent? I personally think the concepts that atheists have put forth are unfathomably ridiculous and unbelievable, even desperate at times. And I guess that I just have to accept that some people see the world differently, because I see the hands of the Creator everywhere I look. Not sure if this a moral/heart/authority problem or just the way some people perceive things. I personally believe it's a combination of both.
And never demonstrated, even when intelligent life attempts to do so. Pretty ironic if you ask me. We all have faith, it's just placed in different places.
I believe it's because man has ego. They want to believe that the harder they try, they can achieve achievements greater than others. With God, no matter how hard you try, you will never be best. The second is "If there is a God, then there is accountability". With accountability, especially knowing that this creator can see even their deepest secretes, they are scared that they must answer for their actions and thoughts.
There's plenty of evidence to support where matter came from and it has nothing to do with any sort of god.
Then where did the matter come from? What created it? (or insert your own better term if "created" offends you)
to clarify, I wasn't saying God is an incoherent concept (when defined adequately). I just don't think it's possible, at least with our brains, to have any kind of clear defined picture of what it would mean for a "supernatural realm" to exist. It's kind of used as a vague semantic placeholder that could be replaced by "magic realm" and nothing would change.
