Whatever Monty said to them at the half didn't work. Still giving up alley oops, dunks, fast break points, points in the paint and any other form of easy baskets. Nuggets have made like one jumper this quarter. All the rest is inside. Man we need to play D.

Man our defense is so sad. You can't ask Jrich to guard Melo, c'mon. If Dunleavy can't take him and Troy can't guard anyone, how are we ever going to win against teams that like to pound it inside or penentrate to the hoop. We just don't own the paint.

The defense is a big concern right now. Especially since 3/5 of our starters are below average-horrible defenders. Denver is looking real impressive from what Ive seen so far..some tough calls for us aswell

Well defense was always something we had problems with. I bet we can be as hot as the Kings of a few years ago, but damn I doubt we'll have have what it takes to ever go far unless our starters play one-on-one D in addition to playing team D. I mean you can play team defense all you want and be decent, but there's bound to be some complete ownage if guys can't keep their man in front.

Fatigue, altitude and the fact Murphy is damn slow... and Dunleavy under the basket ain't going to do anything.

He's blowing it with all that height and shrimps inside. Anyway, it doesn't matter since its garbaajjj time.

Well I like the fact we cut their lead down to 9 near the end because the Nuggets can't shoot from deep, but man we gave up so many fastbreak points and And1 plays in the paint it's like they were shooting high % 3's. We can chalk some of it to fatigue obviously, but that's no excuse. The Spurs did it with two of their crucial guys missing and played double overtime the night before playing against us. I hope this is a constant reminder for Chris Mullin that we'll need help everywhere on D and not just say "help defense" is going to help us. We need some good individual defenders. Guys who are always active and aware and not going to let their man beat them.

These #'s make you a little uneasy:

    Fouls
    Warriors 29
    Nuggets 16

    FTA
    Nuggets 36 (made 26)
    Warriors 20 (made 13)

    Turnovers
    Warriors 18
    Nuggets 11

    Fast Break Pts
    Nuggets 43
    Warriors 21

    Points in the Paint
    Nuggets 62
    Warriors 40

You won't win any games with those stats. Simple as that. Defense was bad, you can blame it on fatigue but again we scored 134 points last night and lost. That says enough about our D. We have to stop thinking that we will just outscore every opponent.

Fatigue, high altitude or not, we just have some guys that don't matchup well against teams like this. IMO we've got two forwards who can't help being crap on defense at times because they get beat and help defense is a work in progress, but they're the best we have, so we have no choice unless a super deal comes along or we land a draft pick that just blows our mind at either forward spot. It's a harsh opinion, but I think there's some truth to it. I remember when we had a motivated Cliff Robinson, he was locking forwards down inside and Dampier was providing intimidation and rebounds. I wish we could have that lineup again where two of our inside players can protect the paint and be active when defending the post or in transition.

It seems the 05 #2 for Zarko is conditional,we can keep it if its better than # 40,so while it may be close,it looks secured and I suspect we instead give the #2 coming from the Cliff R deal
As to Cliff's D,last year it was a plus, this year age had stolen a step . He was left with skill, but not enough bulk or quickness. As is Cliffy gould have played D as good as Murph or Dunleavy, But Murph grabs far more boards,Dunleavy has more overall offense now. I'e ranted a bit about Diogu,Danny Granger,Sheldon Williams, all plus defense guys for the front court and chances appear god we can get one of them.

I wonder if Bdiddy was hurt, was having trouble playing team ball, or it was a precautionary health measure to leave him out of a losing game in the 4th quarter. Maybe all of above?

He saw no action in the 4th quarter. He also got one assist. I guess he was frustrated with those turnovers or something. I sure hope it's not anything drama related.
