The article said that Duncan and Manu would have to sign for the minimum, they'd have to trade Splitter and get nothing back, and then renounce everyone except Green and Leonard to have max cap room. That's so unrealistic, and I don't think the Spurs would want to do that anyway.

Can you combine multiple players in a sign and trade. For example Kwahi Leonard and Tiago Splitter for LMA.

Pretty sure you can, its not like a trade exception and where can I sign up for this deal? I love LMA but i'd trade him for Leonard.

You're using this just as an example to find out if it's technically possible, right? Or do you think the Spurs would actually S&T Leonard for LMA? I highly doubt they would, but would love for this to go down! Then trade Nic & Stotts for S&T'd Monroe & Van Gundy!

Yes it was more like a really nice fantasy consolation prize then a realistic trade scenario, in the event that SA can't clear enough room to sign LMA. Maybe they think they can take another wing (Kyle Anderson) and turn him into another good player..........they seem to have a knack for doing that. Or maybe they think they can get by for a year until the cap goes up. Or maybe there are separate trades with them including someone like Joseph/Ayers, and we include Nic.

They end up with something like:
    Duncan/Baynes,
    Lma/Diaw, Bonner
    Nic/Anderson/Daye,
    Parker/Mills, Draft Pick
    Green/Gianobli

    We end up with:
    Splitter, Rolo,
    Meyers, Freeland, Ayers
    Kawhi, draft pick, Wright
    Wes, CJ, Crabbe
    Dame, Blake (or Frazier) Joseph,

I really don't like our team that much in this, to be honest. I mean, I like Kawhi, but Meyers has our starting PF and Splitter... whose good, but not great... I dunno...

I would rather keep the line up we have, but this was a scenario if we were losing LA to SA. Meyers would be our 4th option on offense. Not sure if Wes would re-sign but I think a young nucleus of Dame, Cj, Kahwi, Meyers, and our draft pick would be a good foundation to build on. Splitter and Rolo add a decent defensive tandem at center.

Your PG, SG, SF are your three most important offensive weapons IMO. Dame CJ and Kahwi would give us three guys who can attack the basket, shoot deep, and pull up with excellent mid range jumpers. They can do all three very well, and handle the basketball. Maybe not realistic, but I would take it as a consolation prize for losing LA.

Spurs won't give up Leonard for anyone man...he's their future. Assuming we could get Leonard is nothing more than a pipe dream. I honestly feel that signing Leonard to a max is #1 on the list of things to do this offseason

Oh, that's right, you weren't around in June '12 when "Not. Swayed." (a Fez-ism) became a board mantra for a while. Here, see for yourself.

So what? Who cares what you think? All that matters is what NO and LMA think.

Ric Bucher on teams targeting LaMarcus Aldridge: “The top team that I’m hearing right now is the Dallas Mavericks, that’s where he is from originally, the San Antonio Spurs are also on the list as well as I’m hearing the possibility of the LA Lakers, although I believe that is a distant third at this point. I can tell you that San Antonio makes the most sense as far as fit is concerned, but Dallas has an assistant coach that he was very close with with the Blazers, it was actually his interim head coach at one point, Kaleb Kanales. Both Texans…
