<div class="quote_poster">Gohn Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Good observation. I don't they can play any worse, and they will not play that way all season, or at least I hope not.

Going into the season, I think we all knew that defense would not be strong point, but the lack of offense reminded me of the warriors start two seasons ago with Monty. I do think this team is a lot better offensively than this, and it's great to see the bench playing so well (last year it was not dependable).

Part of it is because of bad chemistry right now, new coach (yet again), J-Rich injured, Murphy in the mask, playing out of position. But also there is something mentally affecting their play.

FTs will be the key to success.</div>

Yeah, I remember just seeing these players miss layups and shots close to the hoop. Murphy got blocked twice on his first two shots vs. Portland.

What is lacking with these players mentally and physically is the little things. They appeared easy to give up on plays, they aren't sprinting on the court(besides Pietrus, Andris, Monta - the players producing), etc. They also don't do the little physical things to win such as making layups and shots close to the basket, and even bigger are the free throws. The players who commit most of these actions seem to be players who were injured during the preseason such as Jason Richardson and Troy Murphy. Mike Dunleavy is a dissapointment, but probably not as big of one as he was last season.

<div class="quote_poster">Clif25 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I meant to add this to my original post: But I was reading the post game comments by the Warriors, and it just seems as if the Jazz are a very impressive team. Don Nelson gave that team high praises, and even Baron and Jason did too. Don Nelson seemed a little more passive after last night's game than the previous two games. Baron however is frusterated with losing and is starting to not be able to take it very well anymore. Jason noted that the Warriors need to play better against this team, no matter how good the Jazz are playing, because this is a team that the Warriors need to beat to make the playoffs - or at least they will be competing for a playoff spot where spots are extremely limited(which kind of seems inaccurate since there are 8 spots out of about 14 or so teams in the West; but it's true).</div>

I agree with that. The Jazz are very good when healthy but its still disappointing to see the W's playing so badly.

I see what Clif is saying. It's a combo of physical and mental problems. Guys aren't playing tough enough, guys are injured and reluctant to play scrappier because of those injuries or worry over foul trouble, guys are missing easy shots including layups and in-game free throws and technical fouls shots of all things. But it just seems like more of last year and it's hard to swallow if we have to repeat last year's disappointing season.

I'm glad a lot of other fans are patient because I feel like history is repeating itself all over again. What if we can't even re-sign our own prospects like Monta Ellis or Biedrins or Ike Diogu? I mean big men especially cost more and more teams could throw more money if they know Cohan won't match because of the luxury tax. It's a bit of a worrisome situation because it could potentially set us back even worse than before when Mullin first inherited the franchise as it was in '03.
