I went to the Chris Dudley basketball camp that was held in Coquille. He only showed up for one day. I said, "big whoop, it's fucking Chris Dudley."
That might say something about his attendance at a job, such as missing votes in a legislature. How is he qualified to be a governor? Has he ever run for office? Ever won an election? If no paid jobs, has he even volunteered for any political committees? What is the most complicated political job he has ever had, and how long did it last?
Why does one have to be a politician to be Governor? What was our current President's executive experience before he became Chief Executive?
It's clear that being in some form of politics for at least 4 years has proven to lead to people being better governors.
Perhaps. What I think is needed, however, is a perspective free of the assumptions of the past. Given our current economic situation--which is bad even compared to the faltering US economy--we need some out of the box thinking. The last thing we need is another political hack.
An interesting proposition. So, in your opinion, continuing on our current path will lead to success? We have the second highest unemployment rate in the country. In 1980, we had the headquarters of 11 of the Fortune 500. Today we have two. Exactly what are we doing right?
No, sorry, being an idiot. I am always torn on these ideas, actually. Part of me has that worry that we are bringing in someone who has never done the job before, and there is that fear that he will make it worse, or be a bumbling fool. Then theer is the knowledge that most actually doing the job, and those that have experience are making it worse and are bumbling fools. I don't know enough about Dudley. I don't care that he is a republican or democrat. I lean to the lft for sure, but want to actually see what his plan as governor would be. Status quo? Push small business, and being the little state that could? Then fuck him. I don't want that. Will also help to see who he has around him, as advisers around an executive are going to wield a lot of power, in kind of a Reagan sense, IMO, that an executive isn't going to have great knowledge on every subject. So having bits of knowledge, and great people around you(not stating one way or another that whoeevr was around Reagan was great, just saying) is mroe important than trying to "go it alone" so to speak. Will be interesting how the Republicans in state view him, adn whether he is given the opportunity.
I guess he did double major in poly sci and economics. But, I don't like tax cuts to get jobs. The company will leave as soon as you remove the tax cuts.
At this point there is no compelling reason for anyone to vote for him UNLESS they simply vote Republican party line....and that is their ONLY criteria for selecting a candidate. Up until now he has been completely silent on his platform or agenda, and at his announcement only repeated vague republican platform stuff.
