Then why haven't our guards been able to defend? The other half is insanely hard to teach (instinct and feel).

You are right. I didn’t think about instinct. I was thinking more about positioning and distance.

With the obvious exceptions of a couple guys...players have all come here and improved as players. A lot is on the coaching staff to balance the rookie's games out and get them up to nba speed...I would expect our rookies to benefit from practicing against Chief, Mo and Nurk...Zach Collins sure seemed to...I think Biggie will as well...our 3rd string roster is what it is....3rd string. I don't have my hopes up that Simons or Trent will crack the rotation rookie season unless it's garbage time in the 4th qtr in a blowout

It really depends on the final roster to open the season if they get playing time. I think of the 2 rookies I think Trent will have the best chance some time in the season to crack the rotation.

I liked @Orion Bailey's post but you're right (don't let it go to your head, oops too late). As a person with remarkable defensive insincts, I can attest its a unique ability. Wait till I get my PRP injections done, I'll D you up and you can see for yourself. OB can officiate!

(The classic "PRP" excuse.... Not like I haven't heard that a billion times!!! I need practice DUMMIES for Rip City 3-on-3, getchasssss out in these streets FAMS!)

Oh damn, it did go to my head. I've never had someone tell me I'm right before. I don't like it. Tell me I'm wrong and argue with me!!!

I thought I would check on evaluation of Thompson's lateral quickness when he was younger; found this which supports your point: "While there are some concerns about Thompson's athleticism hurting his offensive game at the next level, the bigger concerns lie on the defensive end, where he is noticeably lacking in lateral quickness and is taken off the dribble often. "- Source: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Klay-Thompson-5490/ ©DraftExpress

Let's hope that Trent is also an exception to the rule.

@BonesJones did you even look at his combine numbers and play?

"Gary Trent Jr., another fringe first-round pick, also boosted his profile in a big way.

Although he didn't generate much buzz on the first day of the combine, the former Duke guard broke out for a game-high 22 points (7-of-11 FG, 3-of-5 3PT), two assists and zero turnovers in the scrimmage setting."

Solid game from Gary Trent Jr. in a losing effort, who led all scorers with 22. Trent's 33.5" standing vert also surprising good, third best here.

Combine that performance with a 3.08-second shuttle run and a 39.5-inch max vertical jump, and Trent seems to be trending in the right direction."

Plus found out before entering college he standing reach was 8'4" 2 inches more then the combined. I think Kentucky had that measurement of him. This when he was deciding what he was going to.

His 8'2 standing reach is BS. It's likely to be 8'5, maybe even 8'6.
