Grant isn’t a flashy name in the league. Not sure the Blazers will see their respect or national exposure go through the roof because of the trade. But it is great low key improvement.

Andre Drummond is a FA and you’ve got to wonder what his value will be like after the BKN mess.

    Dame
    Simons
    OG
    Grant
    Drummond

That would be a very strong defensive and offensive starting 5.

Can Grant improve his game on a better team as Wiggins did in Golden State?

If he changes his role, sure. Him being the main guy probably was not beneficial to his overall reputation. Having Simons, Dame and even Nurk should make it easier for him to be open, etc

I wanted us to draft Drummond. He’s been solid. You know what you are going to get from him, and you get it. Same draft class as Dame.

While everyone wants more then they settle for, I bet they previously broached the subject with his agent & are on the same page to be reupped before the start of the season. I'm more concerned about the years then dollars.

I was in the decided minority here advocating for JG. By the 3rd game or so heres expecting the board to turn and place irrational value on him like most of the rest of the roster.

My biggest issues with Drummond is that he struggles with switching onto smaller players & instead of embracing his limitations on offense and focusing on boards, picks and rolling to the hoop he still thinks he's a dominant post up player.

Wiggins is a great comparison of what Grant could be for the Blazers.

Not only the $$$ Grant is going to want, in getting Jerami, we picked up a forward who averaged less rebounds per game last year.....than the guard we traded out that net the Blazers that pick.

    CJ - 4.2
    Grant - 4.1

    Like Jerami....but at around $20M.

I'm not going to worry about money. Time for them to spend some dough and build a winner IMO. Maybe Jody is more of a fan than we think? Maybe she would love to see a trophy and a banner so she can say she got one for Paul? They cleared the repeater tax so why not?

CJ wasn't around 20 million per year though. Nor was that guard able to play PF. And Grant may want 30 million, but he won't get 30 million.

I am torn on that. We often need a decent contract to include in a trade. A longer contract at a lower amount wouldn't be horrible IMO. Let's say you give him an additional 3 years at 20 million, he still will only be 31 in that 4th year. He would still be an asset if the salary was reasonable,

    Hello,
Four years from now and a new tv contract should make that a great contract asset, I would think?

He's 28 today (born in March) and under contract, so in the 4th year of a potential new deal he'll be 33 to start that season. He's making 20M a year on his last deal, expect a raise. 3 years 70M with a team option year 4 seems ballpark to me

He would be 32, but I agree with everything else.

I was counting next year (where he is under contract) and an additional 3-year extension.
So he will still be 28 for most of next season
29 the first year of his extension
    30 in the 2nd
    31 in the 3rd

4 years total as a Blazer

He's terrible. That's why he has bounced around. He's completely awful.

Is it reasonable to think that Grant can be our Wiggins equivalent?

Maybe less likely to happen than not; but I wouldn't call it unreasonable.

Probably unreasonable to think that Simons can play defense like Klay. Probably unreasonable to think Little becomes Draymond while staying healthy. So no, we won't be Warriors level contenders even if Grant booms.
