Trade Grant to Portland for Mil first done deal

He could only get a two year extension in that case. It says by the extend and trade rules you can only extend by three years including any years remaining on the current deal. Grant would have to want to wait and sign his big extension in December.

 

Again, it wouldn't be fine by Grant because if it's done by Thursday next season counts for those three seasons. So he only gets a two year extension when he wants a four year.

 

An extension would have no effect on his current salary for the trade.

 

I’m hoping the number will be around $20m/yr on any extension for Grant. I’m also hoping he’s the third option on offense and not second.

 

He'll be the 3rd option because we have Dame and Ant.

Some games. There could be times he is the best bet for second option. Matchups.
Also lets all presume the Blazers will not be getting Durant which i would say is not likely. I guess possible but not likely?

A starting salary for Grant around 23 mil would make him the ~50th highest paid player in the league. That's commensurate with his production.

I think $20 million is fine. Creeping above $25 million is more questionable, but justifiable considering it was part of the reason why we got him for relatively cheap.

 

I'm wrong again, the 3 years includes next year. So the actual extension part would only be 2 years.

I doubt Grant would sign a 2-year extension over waiting 6 months for a 4-year one.

 

I hope the 4th year is a Team Option

 

I bet it's a player option.
