He might of. I mean I agree we got a diluted Sabonis. I think those numbers is a bit extreme. How many centers have got those numbers? 20/15 would be pretty dominate. Edit I decided to do a search to see what was the best scoring/rebounding center average ever in the NBA. What I came up with was this: Wilt the Stilt averaged 24.3 points, 23.8 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game. I got this from a page that rated the best 10 centers ever. Walton was rated #7 of the top ten ever. Pretty good considering his injuries.
Look at Sabonis' stats. Around 15/10 in 20 minutes (I exaggerate a tad), and that is with missing a ton of games and limping around. He was 31 years old as a rookie for the Blazers when he was putting up those stats in such limited minutes. As a younger guy, he'd have doubled those numbers. I'm not saying he'd have been 30/20 for his career, just for a number of seasons during it.
The only year he average 16 points and ten rebounds he played 32 mins a game and played 73 games. Career he was 12 points and 7.3 rebounds in 25 mins. I would have loved to have got him here when he was young and he might have finish being one of the best centers ever. Unfortunately we'll never know. Don't get me wrong I do like Sabonis a lot, but I just don't think he'd get better numbers than Wilts best year. Mainly I though the stats you stated was what I was disagreeing with. Sabonis stats I'm a little surprise he didn't have better assists averages considering how good of a passer he was.
Why are you guys forgetting about players like Brian Grant, Rasheed Wallace, Jermaine O'Neal LOL!!!!!!!!
We are talking about the greatest. O'Neal might have been up there if we hadn't traded him. Wallace might have been up there if had he had a different mentality. I like Grant a lot, but I wouldn't put him in the greatest level.
