Man if Olshey could pull this off, I don't see a team in the league able to play with us.

Your other free agents are cap holds even bigger than their current salary. You have to renounce them to have the cap space to sign Monroe to a bigger contract than MLE (if you have it).

Trade anyone who's not in the starting line-up, and exclude CJ, Blake, and Kaman. Get this guy! High/Low with Kaman/Monroe off the bench would go a long way towards making us contenders. The guy works the PAINT.

Between this and the CJ thread I'm drooling over the prospect of a Blake/CJ/Crabbe/Monroe/Kaman bench. There is ZERO reason for us not to play a 10-man rotation in that scenario, with nobody averaging over 33mpg*.

*Well, except Dame. He's good at 35mpg.

I'm gonna have to agree with you here. A solid 10 man rotation

I doubt he'd want to come off the bench though.

He's not exactly starting in DET.

No love for RoLo's post game? I'd feel bad for Joel Freeland if we got Monroe but you can never have too much talent, especially big men.

I love Lopez's post game, but his post attempts require set up. The other players I mentioned have the ability to get the ball on the block and make things happen.

Lopez can. He's got his hook shot.

He does, but it's set up. He can't take a pass in the block, back down the defender and do that hook. Normally his shots are quick after the pass.

Going to a title contender I doubt he'd mind getting starters minutes backing up RoLo and LaMarcus.

Do it before Houston or OKC does!

Monroe and Kaman would NOT work together.

I don't see why not. Kaman plays a bit of PF and seems to play his best when it's around 18ish min.

You don't want this guy next to Durant or Harden.

I don't know.... I would probably look at dealing Kaman in the package and have Monroe play PF/C with LA and Rolo.

Some interesting comments I copied from another board and Neil doing good work:

"Remember the Blazers made the first call to Monroe when the Trade deadline opened up last year and Olshey and Stott's laid out a full program how LMA. Rolo and Monroe would make up a great rotation. Kaman was signed for the MLE with a $1,000,000 guarantee in the 2nd year which makes him an expiring - and the Blazers do have their 2015 1st. with the Salaries - and the ability to include some nice pieces - TRob, Alan Crabbe or even CJ McCollum could be in the mix IF Monroe agrees to a resign. They would have to have that and the plan to resign LMA - Wes and Rolo in place to make it happen, but since they had the meeting, there must be some way they felt that could be accomplished.

AND - you will remember that David Falk - Monroe's agent - was very complimentary about how Neil Olshey handled the Free agency issue with Roy Hibbert. Olshey made it clear the Blazer's were prepared to send a Max offer to Hibbert, but when Indy considered matching and Hibbert wanted to stay there, The Blazers did not send a sheet. Falk said he appreciated the way Olshey's professionalism and would consider that in future deals - Monroe?"

and don't forget Monroe can reject any trade, hmmmm

Kaman IMO would be very attractive as a trade piece, many teams could use a backup C like him, we could add yet another piece

Good point. I just think if you add Monroe, you want to give him as many minutes as possible and that's going to be hard to do with Kaman still on the roster.
