Thank you all for your input. I'd like to ask you all for a favor. My computer crashed and now I can't read beyond page 6 of the thread. Could all of you re-type your posts so I can catch up? You may summarize if you like. Thanks and have a happy Valentine's Day.
Oden is a rake and a libertine. His degenerate lifestyle led to systemic skeletal deteriorization. Oden's injuries are pure bad luck and random chance. They have no cause, and to suggest otherwise is grossly unfair to this heroic young martyr. I think that sums up the 2 sides of the debate!
Did the team every find out how/when Greg hurt his knee this time? Was he doing his rehab workouts for a period of time on a knee that needed MF surgery, possibly making it worse? It's been awfully quiet down at One Center Court these days regarding Greg.
The Thread that won't die. It's now 15 pages long. When's the last time that happened? I guess the Greg Oden Story never gets tired for Blazer Fans.
All I know that GO is a Blazer and his health is our only chance to become an elite team. I wish him nothing but the best and will root for him as long as he is a member of our team.
Thanks! I'll check this thread every couple of weeks for any variance in those arguments. I want to keep up with this thread over the years.
I am embarrassed to contribute to this 15 page thread, but I just noticed it was still alive. All I can say is WTF!
Mmmkay regarding the bolded. As for the rest, I don't think you'll find many people to disagree with you.
When Oden has been on the floor--even though he's not been in basketball shape--he's been dominant. The question with him has never been his ability to play the game, but his health. If he's healthy, he surpasses Aldridge as our best player. You can build an elite team around GO and LA. LA can't do it by himself. I leave Roy out of the discussion because he'll never be the same player. I'd be interested in the path you see us to be an elite team without Oden becoming healthy. Can you do better than an "Mmmkay"?
He's been very good, but not dominant. Plus, he can't stay on the court due to foul trouble. It's not like the guy was playing at an MVP level. Could he have been that type of player? Perhaps.
