I'm a quality over quantity guy on most things. As such, I'd much rather roll the dice that a more talented player staying healthy then a less talented but usually healthy player getting significantly better. This is especially so when a player hasn't sustained injuries that should affect them longterm as is the case here. Unfortunately for Laker fans the same can't be said for their young Big
to be sure, time isn't on their side. Don't they feature the oldest rotation in the league?

Repped. I am so sick of that particular tactic.

I'm not sure that is what STOMP was trying to do - but other posters have done it frequently.

If his career ended tomorrow, he's a bust. If he gets healthy and plays another 10-15 years at a high level, he isn't.

Same thing can be said for Kevin Durant then imo.

It could, but then Durant hasn't underachieved the expectations for him so far.

Oden hasn't underachieved as much as he's been injury prone, and his injuries have without a doubt affected his play on the court. Even with that, he's shown he can produce and make a team significantly better when he's on the court.

Bust is a label I can't put on any player that's shown when healthy he's worthy of where he was selected. Injury prone on the other hand is.

You're right, you don't play those "foolish semantic games". We should discuss whether this is actually his 3 or 4th season.

This is the type of post that I can't stand. I think your basic premises are fine - it's perfectly fine to be down on Oden and not to expect anything special from him, given his history. But then you have to go ahead and fuck it up with made up bullshit like "Hes never gonna play even 60 games in a season." that you try to pass off as fact. Then you call the people who haven't given up on Oden "homers" who act "like a Mom with their kids". This is a BLAZERS BOARD - you are inevitably going to find posters who haven't given up on Oden like you have. Neither viewpoint is right or wrong, as no one can predict the future, but if someone doesn't share yours it's like the apocalypse around here!

....and yet he's still just 22. Whats your bitching going to be about when he strings together 60+ games this season? I'm sure you'll find something.

I wasn't trying to make that case. I'm saying the exact opposite. Clearly it flew way over your head.

Nope. I'm implying that a player should not be labeled a failure or "bust" until it is clear that their performance and production is not going to make significant improvements moving forward.

See above instead of building strawman arguments.

It is pretty clear that Webster is not going to significantly improve his production and performance moving forward.

Come in here for the first time in months and make a broad generalizations. I've got in plenty of good pissing matches with fans about the team in the past month. The problem with Mixum is he rarely backs up statements with facts and never answers questions, because a lot of the time he has nothing to supports his baseless claims.
