True. But it remains to be seen whether he stays that way. If he continues to hugely disappoint, he'll be a bust.

If he has a run of health, he'll have a bust in the Hall of Fame. <---Fearless prediction for healthy Oden

    Let's look at the facts:

#1 pick, fragile, 82 games in 3 seasons, unable to start 4th season, career averages 9.4 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.4 bpg

    Bust?

    Healthy Oden = career averages of 9 & 7.

Healthy Oden last year: 23.1 PER and great defense.

Durant: 26.2 PER with average defense.

And what are the "facts" for moving forward for the rest of his career?

Compare to #1 pick David Robinson after two years off before rookie year:

24.3 ppg, 12.0 , 2.0 apg, 1.7 spg, 3.9 bpg and his competition at the center position was much tougher back then

Compared to that, 9.4 & 7.3 is an epic bust.

One month of PER? That's all you got. Fuck David Lee has better PER than Kobe Bryant. Who is the better player? Is it close?

His PER was also solid in his rookie season. And no, that's not all...I also mentioned his great defense. He's a tremendously efficient scorer, one of the best rebounders in the game and a great team defender. He would be a great man defender except that his foul rate diminishes that. So while injuries and fouls have kept his raw production down, his play while on the court has been tremendous.

We can speculate about whether his health and foul troubles will change in the future, but I'm pretty comfortable with Oden's level of play (in the context of a top pick) when he has been on the court.

    Clyde Drexler's rookie campaign: 7.7 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.9 apg 0.3 bpg

Compare that to LeBron James rookie season: 20.9 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 5.9 apg, 1.6 spg, 0.7 bpg

Compared to THAT, 7.7 & 2.9 Clyde Drexler is an epic bust.

Regardless, you should probably let Greg Oden put in a full body of work before you dig up some stats and compare him to one of the greatest defensive centers in league history.

Just a minor difference between David Robinson and Greg Oden: Robinson played 4 years of college ball and was an established player by the time he started in the NBA. Oden played one year of college ball and was considered by everyone to be a project. Robinson played 36 minutes per game as a rookie. Greg may never approach Robinson's career stats, but it would be nice to at least see what he can do after a couple of years of significant minutes before labeling him a bust.

David Robinson was 24 as a rookie. Oden won't be 24 til 2012.

If those were Clyde's numbers after three seasons and he had only played 82 games and was missing the beginning of his 4th season, he would have been a HUGE bust.

If you're not ready to produce, don't enter the draft.

And then he explodes and becomes a 10-Time All-Star, One of the 50 Greatest Players of All Time, and Olympic Gold Medalist. :)

Honestly, I think Greg's bust label status is pending, considering his career is far from over. So like I said, which you seemingly ignored, let the guy put in some work before you jump to conclusions.

Why not? Players get paid whether they produce or not. It's up to teams to decide whether it's worth investing in young players.

In any event, I don't think anyone can predict whether they're going to have a series of injuries they've never had before, so I don't think that whether Oden was "ready to produce" or not could be predicted.

    HOMER UP!

Outside of his opinions of Oden, isn't Speed the biggest Homer of all time? He literally thinks Outlaw is an all-star. I'm so confused right now.

    HOMER UP!

Oden is certainly HOF bound. You're nutz if you think otherwise. Haven't you seen him play? Easily HOF material. Man, you must not get many Blazer games on the East Coast. Homer up.
