What I mean about Matta versus Izzo is that guys just talking to Matta get excited. They go, wow, I really want to play for this guy! Izzo might be the best coach in the league, but that doesn't mean when guys talk to him they'll feel the same emotions. Mike Davis is a great recruiter too, but then again he's probably going to be fired in a year. Matta represents an underdog up-and-comer.
Oden and Conley are expected to commit to Ohio State shortly after this weekend, it is being reported. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Cook, Conley, Oden and another recruit, Dave Lighty ? all ranked among the top 20 prospects nationally in the class of 2006 ? are scheduled to visit Ohio State this weekend. Cook, a 6-foot-4 guard from Dayton Dunbar, and Lighty, a 6-4 guard from Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph, already have committed to sign with Ohio State in November. Speculation among recruiting aficionados is that Conley and Oden, high school teammates from Indianapolis, will commit during their visit or not long afterward. "I?m not going to say they?re going to commit (this weekend) or not, but it?s been on their minds a lot," Cook said. "It could be right after the visit or it could be during the visit. I can?t tell you what?s going to happen. But I know Mike and Greg like Ohio State a lot." </div>Thaddeus Young, meanwhile, will not make the trip as expected due to a scheduling conflict. He plans to attend a football game and not choose a school until the fall.
Just to update everyone, Oden officially still has five choices: North Carolina, Wake Forest, Ohio State, Michigan State, Indiana However, all the talk on any recruiting forum is that it's between Wake Forest and Ohio State for him and Conley.
