If he needed surgery it would make no sense that the doctor who did the MRI cleared him for non-contact basketball practice...

This could be something like a grade 2 MCL sprain that Matt Forte just had. That is a tear in the ligament, but not quite a grade 3 (complete) tear.

    Nice. :O

That would have been quite a team.

This. It's over. I wish he'd retire so that mentally, we could move on. I'm no longer worried about Oden "dominating" for another team. It's not gonna happen. Nothing personal, Greg, but it's time to walk away.

YES it IS. He hasn't played a game since 2009! In three weeks, it's 2012. We have waited and waited. Joel has recovered from two injuries, Elliott Williams has recovered from two knee surgeries, and then there was a lockout, giving Oden MORE time to rest, and after all that, he can't play til February and now he can't even play then??? Even IF he DOES play in Fall 2012, how good will he even be? His career averages are 9/7. Even though he was starting to look better, he still lacked the coordination to stay out of foul trouble. It would take him a year or TWO to get to a place where he can dominate this league and by THEN, chances are he'll be HURT again! This is a guy who needs MF surgery because he gets hurt getting off his couch! It. Is. Over. Cut him. Let Miami have him. It is not fair to us fans to keep him around and dangle false hopes in front our faces year after year. It's mean.

When your number 1 pick center misses almost THREE straight seasons, it's terrible news. Period.

I disagree. On that Sunday in June, we were in the fucking Western Conference Finals, having recovered from a 1-3 deficit and we were playing for a trip to the NBA Finals. Even though we lost, we were at least IN the big game. Nowadays, it's first round and out year after year, injuries, injuries, injuries. We're the only Western conference team to not win a playoff series in the last 10 years. I'd much rather watch us lose a big game than not even PLAYING in a big game.

You mean the setback to the setback? Or just the original setback? It is a non-weight bearing ligament and they are concerned about the stability of it. Pretty much his knee needs to gain strength back normally, over the course of the next ~1-4 months. You looking for more? Cause I don't think it's coming.

Is that the issue? And if that IS the issue, it doesn't sound bad. Is it just be that his knee needs strength?

This is what pisses me off about the Blazers sometimes. I want to know exactly what the setback to Oden is. Instability of non-weight bearing ligament is not enough information. I want to know what ligament and the cause of the instability. Why won't they divulge the information?

HIPAA's a bitch. And why would we want to give the rest of the NBA an update on GO?

We know exactly what's wrong with LaMarcus.

We know exactly what's wrong with Brandon.

When Martell broke his foot a second time a few years ago we were told exactly what happened.

    Why not Oden?

Professional sports teams are exempt if an exclusion is negotiated in a CBA, which is the case for the NBA and its players.

I want to believe that, but the team changed their stance from hopeful to less confident that he'll return this season. That implies surgery to me. But who knows? Just a perma-cloud of mystery that lately surrounds this team.

They are extremely vague with the details. That makes me nervous. How long has Greg had this problem? It could easily have been a situation last season where it was announced during fall camp that he wouldn't be available for the entire season. Still, he's "likely" to miss 66 more games.

Nervous? I was nervous the first, second, and third times he got injured. Now I'm just numb. I really don't care anymore. Oden is done.
