From Oden's Facebook: "I’m sure you’ve all heard the news by now that I’m having a scope on my knee today. Unfortunately after months of intense rehab and training, the doctors discovered that a scope is necessary at this time. Thankfully this should be a quick recovery and I’ll be back to training soon. I’m committed as ever to doing everything and anything to get back on the court and be a part of the team’s success. Thanks for all the support, your well-wishes are much-appreciated. Good luck to my teammates this weekend!"
I really hope he comes back. I really wish this nightmare is finally over. There are too many ifs to go "all in" in this situation.
Ancient history. And then we turned around and lost to Phoenix by 25 on the road. This team can't win on the road (3-9). The only road wins we've had since OKC was NOH and TOR, two LAST PLACE teams with a combined record of 11-35. We've lost four in a row on the road, including losses to last place DET, GSW and last place SAC, teams with a combined 19-47 record. We aren't just losing on the road, we are losing on the road, consistently to the WORST teams in the league. We also can't win close games (1-7 in games of 5 points or less). Anyone who thinks this team can even compete in a playoff series without HCA is beyond delusional. Our coach has proven, thanks to his unimaginative offense and inability to make mid-series adjustments, he can't even win in the post season when he has superior talent and HCA. How the fuck can he possibly lead this team to anywhere but one and done - at best? BNM
Oden needs to get penis reduction surgery. I don't know how else to explain all the problems with his lower extremities.
It will be very interesting to hear how this surgery goes, when they get the camera in there they will have a much better look at his knee and may spot serious defects or hopefully confirm its a minor issue and his knee is otherwise sound. I will be shocked if he plays a game this season, I'd say theres less than a 5% chance of that happening. If Greg wants to stay with the Blazers next season I'd for sure give him a minimum contract as the 15th man, if he is looking for more money then that we will have to see. First priority will be utilizing our cap space for a PG or C. We need to aim for starter level talents that are out there. If we can't add any good free agents we may want to just retain most of our players, Gerald, Nic, maybe Crawford or Felton. In that scenario we won't have any cap space. If it takes $5 million to bring back Oden for 1 season I wouldn't mind if theres no opportunity cost. That's if Paul Allen is willing to pay it. But honestly I never got the feeling Oden loved the city of Portland. He may want to continue his rehab in a sunny climate or close to home in Indiana. I'm still a big fan of Oden and would like to see him rehab here next season but if he or the team wants to go in a different direction I can't really fault either one.
Well if the stated purpose of the scope is to "clean out debris" then that's either cartilage or scar tissue. It doesn't sound like this is a fishing expedition to figure out an unknown problem.
Quick recovering on the surgery. I assume once he is recovered from this he would be cleared for full practice. The blood clots in his legs are a bigger problem dunno how that happens. I'm kinda pissed they didn't do this surgery a few months ago. I'm guessing he starts full practicing by the end of Feb and we see him in the middle of March. I'm being insanely optimistic but its a good day so i'm not gonna assume the bleak shit at the moment.
Atleast it is some news. Sounds like it is minor and have not been counting on seeing GO in a Blazer uniform. My guess is an S&T this coming offseason. More concerned about the ankle blood clotting.
Honestly it's not that hard and it's got nothing to do with age. If he's been somewhat sedentary they can form due to poor distal circulation. Of course the other possibility is that he really is fifty years old.
Uhhmmm, why? So they could do the surgery twice? The debris in his knee are from him recently ramping up his activity level in order to come back, he didn't have the symptoms months ago when he was more sedentary.
