Côte d'Ivoire have one of the best teams in Africa at the moment. I never saw Portugal winning it with ease.

 

Côte d'Ivoire are a better team overall than Portugal at the moment, to be honest. Also, never pay any attention to FIFA rankings, they're full of shit.

 

I'd still put money on Portugal. I did another bet with Italy, Portugal, etc. and that went down the drain.

 

I did not expect Italy to go through from my pre-tournament predictions. I would not bet on their matches.

 

Brazilians aren't happy right now.

 

Hearing about North Korea, they didn't sound that good but they played unbelievable. The announcers said North Korea hadn't won in like their last 7 friendly matches. So either I heard it wrong or North Korea may have gotten up for this game similar to a 1 v. 16 game in the NCAA Tourney, to ultimately fall.

Great effort by North Korea. I know rankings are far from an accurate barometer, but I think they're pretty good at showing relative strength of two teams. That said, a team like North Korea don't really get out much and aren't playing enough to be accurately ranked. Them at 105 doesn't seem accurate, given how well they keep their structure and are able to slow down the brilliant Brazilians. Still, it appeared that the Brazilians thought they were walking into a coronation, rather than a World Cup match. I'd expect to see a great deal more from them against Ivory Coast and Portugal.

I think Brazil will win both and win the group. What it comes down to is how who loses by less and wins by more against the North Koreans. Portugal looked pretty poor and if they don't play Simao a full 90, I don't think they'll break down North Korea as Ronaldo is likely to hurl himself to the floor whenever a defender gets near him, which will be constant.
