Another classic between these two teams and what a performance by Kobe. He was determined to win this game single handedly and unfortunately missed a lot of free throws.

I was really disappointed in the second unit outside of Jordan Farmar. The Lakers were controlling the game until the bench came in and squandered a 13 point lead. Mike James led the comeback for Houston and the Lakers lost momentum.

Chris Mihm looked TERRIBLE last night. He rushed his shot, didn't fight for any rebounds, and was lost in the defensive rotations. Mo Evans was another disaster off the bench on both ends.

Boo hoo cry me a river. I honestly don't care if we won last night. We can lose our next 10 games for all I care, all I want to do is make changes.

Anyways, the Rockets didn't impress me at all. You'd think a "championship favorite" like the Rockets would have an easier time with an Odom-less Lakers, surrounded by tons of drama in the offseason, but they didn't. Had we made our free throws, we could have easily won. Hopefully think is just a rust game for the Rockets, because I doubt they win a championship anytime soon playing like this.

We could've easily won if Kobe and Kwame hit their free throws. But this makes me feel better knowing that the Lakers can keep up with the good teams like the Rockets without Odom and Radman.

i would have felt the same but i remembered that our next opponent is gonna be Phoenix!

Ease up man. It's only there first game playing together with their final roster and they are still working on their rotations. Dont base your opinion off of 1 game

Then in other words the Lakers will be contenders then when Odom returns. This was the Laker's first game of the season as well, and although we didn't get a new coach, I'm sure we were rusty as hell as well (hence the slow start). Not to mention all the drama surrounding us this offseason and our loss of our second best player, yet we could have won if we made our freethrows. The Rockets dissapointed me plain and simple, and no way are they better than Suns, Spurs, or Mavs, maybe not even the Celtics.

Um...you do realize they picked up an entirely new offensive system. Especially with Rick Adelman, it takes a bit to get comfortable in it. Even Yao has stated himself he is uncomfortable with the new offense because he is not used to being in the high post. I estimate it will take about a month for them to really gel together. One of our biggest addition, Scola, still also needs time to adjust to the NBA game. Yesterday was his first actual NBA game.

We were a 52 game win-team despite having Yao sit out 30 games and Tmac 9 games. Our bench is also much deeper than it was last year.

Yao Ming sure looked comfortable to me LOL. He dominated us in the game from the low post and high post. I love this offense for him and I was surprised at how quick he's moving with his baseline spin move. Yao should have a career season for the Rockets.

You're right though, it will take time to adjust and for the players to find their sweet spots within Adelman's offense.
