What's the issue with Simons ? He played well against Houston.

Melo has been our worst player by far this year (Yes I know it's early)

Simons hasn’t done anything to deserve PT over Trent.
    Agree on Melo

It's just possible that, as coach, Stotts has information about a player's health, or a possibly a trade, that factors into his decisions. Or maybe Garry sucked at practice, or gave someone some shit, or Stotts just wants to give Simons some burn.

You think I know him personally? I live next to a school and I'm pretty sure Julius isn't allowed within 100 feet of any school.

Yes I understand the possibilities. Like I said if there is a trade in the works, understandable.
    Practice...we talking about practice?
I don’t think the blazers have ever covered up any injury news or concerns.
If he mouthed off then yeah that’s one thing so I agree there.
My point is...if he’s being benched behind everyone else for the sake of getting other people on the floor...that’s a bad decision

I'd agree if it was more than one game, but I'm not going to second guess him on this one given that I have no idea as to what factored into his decision.

I'm with you. I just hope that after what we saw last season that Gary and Ant aren't seen as being on the same level and/or fighting for minutes with each other. I want Gary (if there aren't extenuating circumstances i.e. health or trade) regardless of how he's been in practice to be treated like he has solid minutes. I'm hoping that is going to be the case and don't have any reason to think otherwise at this point.

The strength of the team (for now) is their depth. Theoretically that’s a good thing. That means Stotts doesn’t HAVE to play anyone. Trent wasn’t the only guy sitting down the stretch. Melo wasn’t out there either, even when the team had possession and needed to score. As long as egos are kept in check, I don’t view it as a negative.

A good test will come when CJ has an off night. Everyone knows when he’s not scoring he’s not making much of an impact. But at the same time he can get hot at any minute. Will Stotts bench him down the stretch if he’s struggling and someone, say Gary or Hood, aren’t? TBD.

Neil told Stotts not to play him. "You don't want $13 mil/year, OK, I'll screw with your PT!"

I had the same thought (obviously I don't give much weight to it) it made me a little sick even thinking about people trying to fuck each other over like that.

Olshey didn't offer Trent $13M/yr. That was Trent's agent's propaganda to other teams, to raise Trent's summer offers up to, he dreams, maybe $7M/yr.

This thread keeps comparing SG Trent to PG Simons. It should compare SG Trent to SG McCollum.

The cause of SG Trent getting few minutes was that SG McCollum had a great early 3rd quarter, so he kept playing the rest of the game. The cause of PG Simons getting minutes was that PG Lillard was completely ineffective when it mattered, despite Lillard's 32 invisible filler points.

It's hard not to compare the two when Stotts explicitly said that Gary sat because Simons played.

    This guy disagrees with you.

I've noticed that you often disagree vehemently with your own posts. Not just this time.

You're right, I have actual real life problems with it. Conflicting thoughts and ideologies. It's kind of funny that I haven't noticed it playing out on here but I'm sure it does since it's rather dominant with me.

It was one game....if GTJ is benched for multiple games then it's something to worry about. But Stotts felt Ant was on his game that night.

Like, at the start of a recent anti-Stotts thread you strongly opposed his critics, and by a couple of pages later, you had joined the overwhelming wave to become a strong critic. When your opinions are always so certain, flipflops are more egregious.
