I'm wondering if a big supergym where they ahve juice bars and shit are good....versus the raw gyms that people go in and out of.
I'm at a private athletic club in Vancouver. Don't pay, my parents still have me on their account. Pretty nice place, tons of cougars and mirrors galore so I can be as narcissistic as possible.
Yeah, that place is decked out with anything you need. A friend from high school's dad manages that place. Country club type atmosphere. Good pickup games always going on there.
Thinking about joining this Spectrum Club....down in El Segundo....its really nice. I love having towel service..the equipment is all modern..only downside its $105 a month...but might do it....this is a place I can go to frequently...pretty upscale, lots of chicks, 2 bball courts (ONE HAS A REFEREE AND ELECTRONIC SCOREBOARD FOR PICKUP GAMES). crazy stuff.
I just pump iron when we have our 1hr in the prison yard! I usually get tattoo's and have sex with men (usually forced) also!
The one thing that I always loved about YMCA was the racquetball courts...24/hr will never have that. That's a great deal. Been with them for a long time?
Yeah, about 4 months. Joined it for the swimming pool for the kids and the workout room, but the racquetball courts are nice too. Bring your own ball, though--they've got 30 basketballs and none of them are inflated or have any grip. Like dribbling a shorn scrotum.
$8.00 month at 24 Hour Fitness with access to any of their locations. I've been a member for 16 years and worked this deal out when I originally signed up. It was $30.00 a month for the first two years which I had to pay up front and then membership dropped to $8.00 a month for the rest of my life. The manager explained to me at the time they only received commission for the 1st two years of a contract (which is why I had to pay full price), but after that all the dues go directly to the company so he charged me the minimum since he had nothing to gain from me being a member after year 2. I'm not sure they still operate that way, but I recommend speaking to the sales manager to get the best deal.
I joined a health club in Sweden called S.A.T.S. in the late 90s, which was acquired by 24 Hour Fitness. On the card is the 24 Fitness logo. The problem on their end is that instead of filling out the expiration date as day, month and full year (i.e., "03/15/2001"), they filled out the expiration date as partial year, month, day so it reads "01/03/15". No one is going to take the time to call Sweden, so I've been using the S.A.T.S. card ever since. I've only been denied a couple of times, and those were from employees who were European.
MAC club is awesome. I loved being a member there when I lived in Portland. Always good pickup-games, and every other activity you might want. Loved it. However, it doesn't really matter if you want to join or not, since it is so difficult to get past the wait-list. At the MAC club, I played quite a few games against Eric Spoelstra, the Miami Heat coach, which was pretty fun. I also really like being a member at the Athletic Club of Bend. We get some pretty good pickup games going there. The weight room leaves something to be desired, but they are in the process of expanding that, plus adding a new bball court. I usually just use one of the gyms at work now, since it is so convenient to go at lunch.
