He might be an overrated shooter (still good) but an underrated passer, rebounder and a very smart player.
I was actualy pleasently surprised with him in the summer league.
I see him as the 10th or 11th player on our rotation.

Babbit is garbage and won't be on the team next season.

I make my statement AFTER doing my homework.

Babbit IS garbage. He's the 10th-11th player on a team that won't win more than 35 games next season.... let that sink in....

I've watched him play in every game he has played in. If you think he is going to get more than 5-7 minutes per game how is he going to "break out"?
I guess you are seeing something I'm not.

Look at the contracts on our team: http://www.storytellerscontracts.com/

If we want to position ourselves to be able to offer a max contract next season (and we are doing this as Pav's and Jefferies contracts are non guaranteed) who needs to go?
Let's assume we are keeping Elliot Williams:

Babbit, Jefferies, Pavlovic, and Smith. Their 13'-14' salaries equal a total of 14.1+MM in cap room next season.

New coach, new opportunity. I dont disagree that there is a good chance he will be on another team next year, but to call him garbage is a little excessive. If you assume he wont improve and is what he is, what you have then is a 3 point specialist who cant defend. Most 3 point specialists cant defend, but if you can shoot the 3 at a 40% clip then your not a garbage player and will have a long career in the NBA.

No, I like a serious, dedicated poster. Too many clowns on this board. This board used to be serious but then it went to the dogs.

IMO, if all you an do is shoot, you are garbage. Where is Kapono? Where is Reddick? Jimmer? Do you want Steve Novak or Matt Bonner on this team? I don't. Ryan Anderson has a few decent post moves and is a very solid rebounder. Ray Allen plays solid D and rebounds pretty effectively. These players bring other things to the table which is why players like them are a bit more valuable.

It's hilarious to me when people think Babbit has any upside. He looked horrible in summer league IMO. My prediction is my prediction. IMO he won't be a breakout player and will be on another team next season.

Why because I post the research I conduct to come to my conclusions? You post was a little jab so I decided to bob, weave, and throw my hook. :smiley-boxing:

No I wouldn't want any of those players on this team, but if we were a playoff team then I'd take any of them as a player off the bench that will average 15-20m. You need solid 3 point shooters on your team to spread the floor. We just have a different definition of a garbage player, which to me means that player has no NBA skills and will be out of the league after his rookie contract is up.
Also Babbit is our only other actual SF on the team. He will get minutes even if he sucks as bad as he did in SL.

Just checked the link to storyteller's site, it's actualy interesting.
If his numbers are true we're still 2mil under the cap while paying Jeffries, Pavlovic, Ronnie Price (terrible contract!) and Shawne Williams (who's not even on the team) close to 6.5mil.
If we didn't pay these guys we'd be at less than 50mil in payroll with the salary cap at 58.

Of the players above only Ronnie Price is guaranteed after this season (terrible contract!)

Babbit is a Stretch 4. Victor Claver is our other SF. ;)

Ah I forgot about claver. Babbit is a stretch 4 but he was listed as our backup sf last year.
Now I'm not so certain babbit is going to get more then 10m a game.

Even though Jefferies and Pav's contracts count against our cap, those salaries are actually being paid by NY and Boston respectively.

Agree. Babbit would be fine on the Heat, terrible on the Blazers. Of course the Heat would much rather have Wes Matthews as a role player, so would the Blazers.
