Good stuff. Bill Haley and Chuck Berry were about the top of Rock when I was a Senior. It needed a little more seasoning.

First jazz album I ever bought was the Jaco Pastorius debut album. The second was his Birthday album. I even read that biography that came out about him. He was a genius but so tortured, like Mozart or Tchaikovsky.

I didn't have to buy my first jazz albums because my folks had a great collection. First one I probably bought with my own money was probably Kind of Blue by Miles.

There were many strange deaths in the late 70s and 80s of creative people, former leaders of demonstrations, etc. And many leaders whose pretended "friends" gave them bad drugs and went crazy. Wikipedia describes where Roy Buchanan died.

Yeah it becomes a moot point after a while. Bringing up the past won't bring back your dead icons. And there are thousands of poor bastards who died unknown the same way. At least the media seems to notice a bit nowadays.
