Barnes is way too incapable of getting his own shot, which isn't a death sentence, but you better have a damn good offensive philosophy with him on the floor. Solid 3rd scorer though, who is long and capable of playing defense.

Geoff Van Gundy has a high basketball IQ. Maybe we should play him. It is a good point that high BBall IQ isn't as affective unless you are a good ball handler, passer or defender. It is important for spot up shooters to know where to go on the floor, but it doesn't help the team as much as with players who have more skills to go with the IQ.

you're right. I don't know what I was thinking as he traded down from the #3 Chris Paul/Deron slot for the opportunity to draft Martell, while Jefferson and Telfair were in the same draft the year prior... good catch

Barnes will be a better Pro than Webster, though that's damning with faint praise. Martell parlayed the Blazers' needs for a SG and a great workout into an insanely high selection. If he actually played at least one season at UW, I doubt he would have been a top 20 selection if there was that body of work to analyze.

I'm not a big Barnes guy, but his game at NC doesn't resemble Webster that much other than his inability to create shots. Barnes is quicker and more explosive.

Yeah, I completely agree with you on Barnes, he will be a much better NBA player than people are expecting him to be....More like a Luol Deng impact type of player, nowehere near Martell Webster....

Barnes can't create his own shot though, while Deng can easily do that

there are plenty of examples of him creating his own shot. not sure why people say he cant...this guy is a pure scorer. he actually reminds me of roy a little bit. smooth and under control and can score in many different ways.

Just watching the games, as well as all the scouts that say it as well.

Actually you're thinking of Sebastian Telfair. He was the one selected over Al Jefferson.

Nash traded down to pick Martell instead of CP3 or Deron Williams I believe. Jesus, Nash was an idiot!

God I hope we don't end up with another PatterNash combination. The franchise will be ruined if so.

Like passing on Faried to draft Nolan Smith ruined?

Like extending Roy even though you knew his knees were shot ruined?

Like drafting Greg Oden with his medical concerns even though Durant was right there as well ruined?

Like keeping a coach employed that couldn't get out of the first round in 7 years ruined?
