No Josh Selby is not. If you don't want to get on the train then fine. There will be room for you later. Sonny.

Hey, I get it. We have been burned, gut-punched, and shit-on so often that feeling optimistic seems suicidal. I haven't seen any reason to hate the pick....but it is going to take time to actually convince me.

That said, I have sympathy for the fans who want to believe. At least the Omen hasn't failed us yet - and with this team, what else do we have to cling to?

So this is what insomnia is like. I forgot all about this thread, but now that I can't sleep I find it.

Btw, I didn't bump it to go "ha you suck" (because we all have comments/threads we've made we regret. 85% of my posts are in that catagory), but instead because in my sleep deprived brain, it was an interesting thread.

This post is foolish. Harrison Barnes, by body of NBA work, is NOT a better pick than Lillard.

When Lillard gets ROY you will be eating this post.

    Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

Well, I finally read this thread. Treaty of Batum was right. Olshey lied that he would draft Best Player Available. This is true even if, at the moment he drafted, he thought Lilliard was BPA. How can that be, you say? Because everyone (media, agent, etc.) knew days in advance that Olshey would take Lilliard no matter what (according to links in this thread, and also everything we read right before the draft) (Leonard, too, knew he'd be a Blazer, since he wore Blazer colors to the draft, like Lilliard).

Olshey, like Pritchard used to, fixated on a player and drafted him regardless of any available surprise players still undrafted. But at least Pritchard had the sophistication to make trades and move us up. Olshey approached this draft wiith a big Duh on his face, told everyone exactly who he wanted, and made no trades. A simple person.

Nice stat line..... Read they were thinking of starting Rush over him....... I'd let this kid play 35 minutes a night.

    Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

C'mon though, we all know that preseason is fake basketball. It's a life-or-death game for like four or five guys that are fighting for those final roster spots, but it's like playing a game at the park for the rest. Hell, David Lee and Andrew Bogut sat out, Fest Ezeli and Jeremy Tyler combined for 48 minutes, and Carl Landry out performed Barnes in less time; I wouldn't be quick to make judgements.

(EDIT: He was also playing against Pat Calathes the entire game. Pat motherfuckin Calathes. Nope, not Nick Calathes, but his even less talented older brother, Pat Calathes.)

...I promise that I agree with, just wanted to bump this thread up to see if Draco was still around to profess his unwavering love for Harrison "Fucking" Barnes! :devilwink:

    Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

Oh, I agree that he's going to be good. The only question in my mind is whether or not he has it in him to dominate a game, consistently. As a NCAA fan first, I've sure seen a hell of a lot of Harrison Barnes over the last two years. I've seen him dominate a game, but I've also seen him sort of fade into the background in a lot of situations where he needed to be "the man." The talent's there, but I just wonder about his mindset. He doesn't really have that Kobe-esque edge on a regular basis.

Then again, if he did have that edge, there would have been a lot more speculation about who should have gone #1...

Shit, I'd rather have him on my squad then Waiters!

Barnes is like OJ Mayo 2.0, which isn't a bad thing. Mayo was pretty good when he had more opportunities to score.

I like him over Waiters and possibly Beal. More overall scoring skills than MKG too.

Exactly my thoughts. I watched him being hyped coming into college as the next sure thing, some even said the next T-Mac. Absolutely dominate high school player. His entire time at UNC he looked tentative, settling for jumpshots.

I'm not holding my breath on him ever making an AS game.

    Re: Harrison FUCKING Barnes

From what I've seen of him thus far, he lacks the ability to create for himself particularly well. His jumper has been better than advertised, he can slash quite well, but hes not going to break guys down off the dribble and get to the rim all on his own very often.

I look at him as a prime Rashard Lewis or Danny Granger type. Maybe Rudy Gay, but thats about as high as I'd go.

If he shoots 70+% from the field and 60% from 3-pt for his career, he'll be the greatest player who ever lived!

2 FTAs in 36 minutes isn't good, though.

To be fair, HFB had a better college career than T-Mac.
