    And you are assuming that we didn't have them in the same tier... Either one, someone is assuming. And judging by the fact that Barnes did drop, its safe to say he wasn't one of the clear cut top 4 picks, yes?

    It's even more laughable that the team that was SOOOO incredibly high on him for the last 2 or 3 years, with multiple articles stating that there is no way barnes drops past them at 4 (yes, the cavs) ended up reaching for Dion Waiters.

    I don't know what to think other than I don't believe what Olshey said which is position would not factor into his drafting philosophy.

    As said, I got to go with it now (tis thread sparked up my feeling again, I'll accept all this by tomorrow morning). But right now it doesn't sit well with me that the consensus was that Ptd was set to draft a PG and center with the 6 and 11 pick two days before the draft. Hell if that really was the strategy, I could have done the same thing Olshey did today. :) (see I'm trying to have a sense of humor about all this)

    You don't get at all what where I'm coming from here. Even Zeller said in an interview what the Blazers would do . ..

    Do better at what? Perhaps you haven't noticed, but I'm actually a pleasant person. I don't have an ax to grind. I'm not someone who gets involved in flame wars. My initial post in this thread was suggesting a way for you to avoid all the angst that you're dealing with tonight. All the hostility has come from your end.

    Again, I'm sorry that your disappointment in this draft has made you so angry. However, if taking it out on me makes you feel better, you're welcome to continue. My platypus hat and I will be right here to absorb all the vitriol you can send my way.

    I love Blaze_01 and your meltdown of almost epic proportions. think it might be time to back away from the forum and chill out a little bit.

    I consider myself a fan of UNC and watched a lot of their games this season and last. Barnes is a nice player that I think will have a good NBA career but he isn't a "Can't Miss" prospect. He has some big holes in his game and his play dropped off quite a bit when Marshall went down. I would have rather seen Barnes taken over Lillard but I'm not all that upset and I'm glad we didn't waste a pick on Lamb, who I think is highly overrated, especially considering we got Barton in the 2nd round.

    This thread seems more like a political thread then a basketball thread. People going over the top and acting like the world is ending just because decisions were made that they didn't approve of.
    Is Barnes going to come back to haunt us? Only if Lillard turns out to be a bust. Is Lamb going to come back to haunt us? Doubt he gets off the bench unless we move Ewill/Wes. Anyone who loves Barnes, just take a look at what happened to him when Marshell went down. The guy has no ball handling skills, he makes Wes look like Nash and his defense is nothing to write home about. He has everything there to be amazing, but so do many players in this draft and so do many other players who never become great (Marvin williams/Webster).n
    We didn't do anything crazy like I know I was hoping for and so many others were, but I don't think we killed it, nor do I think we completely fucked it up.

    Last thing (then I'm done I swear) . . . if you listened to 750 during the draft, it was so obvious who Mike and Mike thought should be drafted (Lillard and Leonard). I swear these two picks were decided before the draft even started. They started talking about and pushing Leonard right after Lillard was picked and they never even talked about drafting Barnes while the Blazers were on the clock for the #6 pick. They knew.

    I didn't really watch the Mike and Mike but it was pretty clear to the media who we would pick too. They had us passing on Drummond for Lillard and the ESPN guys even said we would pass on Barnes for him. Then all they talked about really was Zeller/Meyers for our 11th pick (The ESPN guys also assumed we would pick Rivers but he wouldn't fall to us).

    My thought is if I believe Lillard's potential in the NBA is equal to Barnes', then you're 50/50 and you go for need.

    Sure, we could endlessly compare the two--which would be silly since they play different positions and have completely different roles--if our goal is to seek a reason to criticize (or validate) the front office. Or, we could just watch Lillard play and develop and hope he becomes a legitimate NBA point guard.

    I think I'll opt for the latter, thanks.
