Wouldnt bite them in the ass from a flexibility standpoint, it helps them. Only hit is in the pocketbook.

I look at it similar to a 10 mil trade exception. A nice perk on paper, but often goes unused and ends up worthless.

yeah but it's good to have the option to use it at least. Both Meyers and Dragic will get their team options declined next offseason.

That's why I mentioned it's a nice perk, but unless it is used and a good deal for Miami then .............

there's certainly precedent for that: same situation when Olshey was looking to trade Plumlee because of his impending RFA status and Portland's cap & tax issues. The fact that Olshey lucked into Nurkic in that deal probably adds a little incentive. Maybe he can do something similar again

but it took Olshey 7 years to finally 'give up' on Meyers and he may have as much affection for Zach as Meyers. Not sure he's ready to give up on Zach, especially considering he paid a much higher price for Zach than he paid for Plumlee

the other side of that equation is that Olshey had Paul Allen backing his plays in the Plumlee time frame. That's not the case anymore so cap & tax consideration are probably a higher priority now, especially considering Portland is teetering on the edge of repeater tax

harry giles played two games with the blazers (in the preseason against his former team) and people want to resign him and on top of that, theyre not sure if the blazers will be able to do so

lol, get real folks... giles wont get much playing time and theres a reason why kings let him go and i wouldnt be sure injuries are the only reason

where do you see him getting playing time, instead of who... he wont play over djj or carmelo at the four nor kanter at the five

No realistic way to make salaries match.

    No role for him either.

Only way I see Blazers adding LaMarcus is if there are multiple injuries and he gets bought out.

Blazers can give Giles the MLE, or tax MLE.

If he deserves more then I'll enjoy the awesome year we had, tip my cap to him.

The disadvantage of not having guys locked up long term is we can lose them in free agency.

The upside is we don't have long term contracts hurting the team.

The Kings have been incredibly bad at evaluating talent so i cannot imagine there was a real reason they didn't at least pick up his option. They did this before last season so they basically judged him based on his first year of playing in the league.

I want to see him in a real game as a contributor to wins and also make it through a solid stretch of no injuries before talking about the MLE for a guy who averages 34 games played and 14mpg in his 3-year career on a losing team.

Whats the deal with his strained calf? Does anyone know anything? Its been a couple weeks now at least. Did he tear something?
5 fouls is rest for Kanter at minimum.

I haven't heard anything, but I know the Lakers are expecting Davis to miss at least 4 weeks with his calf strain, so I would assume Giles is about the same.
