Perhaps inanimate objects have varying levels of fear attached to them, depending on your political affiliation
BTW, I started this thread as a result of reading your attempt to get someone to prove the Muslim congress woman supported Sharia law. I thought it a dumbass suggestion since Sharia is an integral part of Islam, therefore taking the Oath of office on the Quran confirms the proof you seek. It also pretty much confirms one is doing the equivalent of crossing their fingers while taking the oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. Sort of like Affirming with an implicit GFY.
Yeah, I suppose if you think everyone who swears on the Bible is saying that the USA should implement all laws found in the Bible, then what you are saying makes sense. But they definitely aren't, and it doesn't. barfo
Now there are a few Muslim in the US and Canada, perhaps else where, that are trying to start a reformation of Islam. Pretty much to separate the religion from the Sharia law. Much as Jesus suggested to remove the harshness Mosaic Law. No stoning of gays and such. But I don't know, where will they find a new prophet of the stature of Mohammad. They are few and far between.
No barf! I think they are swearing as god is my witness, that I will defend and protect... Communicating to their fellow countryman whom share the same morality code, they will follow the Constitution. Perhaps you have difficulty relating, but a majority do not.
Ok, so it doesn't actually matter that Sharia law is in the Koran, it just matters that they are Muslim and therefore you think they don't have the same moral fiber as us white folk. Got it. And yet, very frequently those who swear on the bible turn out not to uphold that oath. So what is swearing on the bible really worth? barfo
Exactly and as we have seen, trump has obliterated many things that he swore on a bible to do so it shows that it is meaningless.
>>>Of course it matters! How silly to assume otherwise. Don't you think that makes it integral to the religion? Sort of like combining the Bible and the Constitution. I know you could wipe your ass with either, but most folks don't. >>>No, I don't think we have the same moral fiber. We do have different code written. The Quran is quite different than the New Testament of the Bible, the teaching of Mohammad are starkly different than that of Jesus. The Hadiths make this abundantly clear. >>>Very true, but hopefully those that vote notice and take appropriate action. Where as swearing on the Quran, seems to me to be an obligations to not support the Constitution, and obligation to deceive the infidels that support the Constitution. So why permit this perversion to take place??? Actually is seems that the Constitution needs and update, since it prohibits a religious test, what then when the religion in question is in direct conflict with the Constitution? As Sharia Law of Islam is with the US Constitution. I don't think the founders covered that fuckup. Jefferson did not do his work on the Quran until more that 20 years after the Constitution was adopted. I think he did it after some experience with them during his wars with the Barbary Pirates. >>> You affirm you will support the Constitution, and it is up to the voters to see that you do. Rather as the Constitutions suggests. What every it is worth for the bible, it is worth nothing when taken with the Quran has it directs the faithful to lie to the infidel. This at least should be understood, don't you agree?
How about the bare fact that they took their oath of office with the hand on Quran? That should make it very plan and clear to everyone. "Rashida Tlaib, an American-born Muslim of Palestinian descent, was sworn in with her left hand on her own copy of the Quran, though she considered using a 1734 English translation that belonged to Thomas Jefferson. And Ilhan Omar, who arrived in the US 23 years ago as a refugee fleeing Somalia’s war, used the Quran of her late grandfather, who helped raise her." I might believe that possible could be affirming to uphold and defend the US Constitution if they had their hand on a copy of the Constitution. But with the hand on the Quran, that is tantamount to GFY and screw your Constitution infidel.
No. You insist the Koran be read literally, but I'll bet you don't insist the Bible be read literally. Yeah, well, tough shit. We allow people to practice whatever religion they want to in this country. I think your reading is more than a little bit off-kilter. It's worth nothing either way. People ought to just sign their name to the oath on paper. Raising one hand and putting the other on some supposedly sacred text is mere theater. barfo
