You can only polish crap so many times but at the end of the day, err business day, it's still crap.

Neil and Paul of their heels dug in. I can't wait for all of this to end.

What is your guess in how an Iggy trade would play out? You mean with us involved? I assume you can't trade for Iggy on your own.

I have to wonder with all this garbage from Minny if Nic startin to get a little "nervous" about Minny and their ability to get anything done, and wondering if this was a wise strategy

So is the offer sheet even valid if Kahn has no room to even offer it?

Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

At this point I don't have the slightest guess, but if we waive Miller/Webster to create room for Batum, and then miss out on Batum, we'd still have that room.

So maybe they offer Williams and/or Johnson plus a pick or two, and the obvious straight cap space. We'd have just short of $13mil in straight cap space, so adding either Williams or Johnson is enough to be able to take back all of Iggy's contract. With them amnesting Brand, and likely heading in a new direction, I'm sure they'd love the cap savings.

Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

That's what I've been screaming all day. You can't offer an offer sheet UNTIL you have room for the player to accept it. You can't say "4/45" and if Nic says "ok I'll sign", THEN waive players, renounce cap holds, etc. That's why we removed Hickson's QO before we told Hibbert we were offering the max.

Personally, unless stuff's gone on at the League Office that NO ONE's tweeted/written about, there's NO WAY they're going to have the space for a 4/46.5M offer today, tomorrow or next Wednesday. Even if Miller magically came off the books today, the most they could offer would be a starting salary of 9.5M, which would equal a 4/40.5M contract. And I don't think that can happen.

Kahn is as 'green' as Ndiaye.

very nice work on this Brian and thanks, just makes Kahn's positioning sound like a whiny child and empty threat

You forget that Kahn and Stern used to spoon. It will all get done for "basketball reasons". :dancewithme:

Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

Let's assume for a second that it all works out, that the contract will fit.

What will Blazers fans take on the whole situation be when:
    A. The Blazers match it.

    or

    B. The Blazers DON'T match it.

Re: Nic 4 years, 46.5 Million

Thanks Brian. I know Olshey is no slouch and he hopefully knows this too. I'd love to see the league void the offer sheet after 3 days, and then we can deal with Batum ourselves.

I am totally fine with matching, worst case is we can eventually trade him like denver did nene, or he performs very well and we are happy, no brainer IMO either way

Losing him for nothing wouldn't be great, but it wouldn't be the end of the world. If they match, its cool, because I kind of like him as a player.

If they don't intend to match though I would be disappointed that they didn't S&T. So I am guessing they will match or S&T.

Edit: I would S&T but extort as much as I could. If they match I won't be disappointed. It's just basketball. Hopefully he lives up to his contract.
