I wonder how much it'd take to get Winslow from Miami. They have Gerald Green at the 3s, and they need to shed space. I wonder if they'd have any interest in Mike Miller, a 1st round pick, and filler for Winslow, McRoberts, and Anderson? They shed all $8M that theyre over the luxury tax, they get a knockdown shooter which they don't have anywhere, and a first round pick. Probably not likely but I wonder if we could add to it and get them to consider.

    No.

The Celtics offered five first round picks and were turned down.

really? I figured it'd be hard but I didn't know it'd be impossible. I'd take Anderson, McRoberts, and 2 second round picks for Mike Miller. We could buy out McRoberts and his 2 years could be combined to this year. They save $8M and get Miller. I imagine them going small with Deng at the 4 and Bosh at the 5 in some lineups, opening up enough time for Miller, Green, and Winslow. We'd turn cap space into four 2nd round picks, and would still have cap space to add more by taking on salary from elsewhere.

If Olshey can get 1 real 2nd round pick for Miller - then he deserves credit.

(and by "real" I don't mean 5 years from now and only if it is 55+)

If Olshey gets anything at all for either of these guys. it's gravy. They don't fit in the current puzzle in any way shape or form. Buy them out, renounce their rights, do whatever, but don't keep them.

They'll likely cut Haywood and work a buyout with Miller. Then we'll preserve most of our cap flexibility for other trades later in the season.

I think we got in too late in the process after all the other teams had made their big moves, but trading Haywood again to take back more salary from someone to get more future assets is a reason to wait until the absolute last minute to release him.

Mike Miller could be a really solid guy off the bench, especially if he can regain the great shooting touch he's had most of his career (not sure why his percentage last year took such a big dip).

Age. He is past the point of being able to make a meaningful contribution.

Why haven't we heard anything about Haywood officially being cut? I thought his contract was guaranteed Aug 1 and needed a 2 days to clear waivers.

We should be hearing about Haywood and Crabbe by the end of the day tomorrow.

Just the deadline for picking up his option. He's either in or out. It's the Blazer's choice

I think Haywood's contract is not guaranteed if he's waived by Aug. 1.

EDIT: fix typo (Aug 2 -> Aug 1)

Good. Now, if he can turn Miller into a 2nd round pick, I will be impressed.

It could have a good chance of happening if a playoff contending team feels he can help their team to the ultimate prize. I'm thinking it would happen closer to the trade deadline. At least Olshey is restocking on the 2nd round draft picks while accumulating young talent for an open competition (starter and key bench roles).
