I think it's a good bill. People will have to pay for the goods and services that pollute our air. Our air is not a free dump for polluters. We're all going to have to pay more for what the pollution does to us and the proceeds will go to those most affected and to the DEQ among others. Those affected will have to pass the cost along and the rest of us will have to pay. Then, us consumers will have to make decisions on which goods and services to consume based on economics. What you can't have is products offered at a reduced price because they take advantage of our environment.
I don't think this bill is good for the state but they should figure out a way to move timber with trucks that don't Make a valley reek of diesel fuel 24 hrs a day...I hike up a mountain road and I could gag when a logging truck passes...and it stays in the air forever....found a 36" Stihl in the road ditch on my hike and saw a logger up the hill looking for his gas can and tools that fell out of his truck.....I gave him his saw and he said he should probably close his tail gate...lot of gas and oil sitting in the ditch bordering some dry pine...saw him later smoking a cigarette near a slash pile
So in a way this has been done. Its tax rebates. But then the public goes crazy when they find out large companies don't pay any taxes (but its because of the credits and rebates we made available)
Show me a large muliti million/billion dollar company who has actually cut down on enough emissions to get a free tax bill. Those issues who more so do to giant tax cuts and loopholes that are unnecessary and only exist because of greed. Giant companies should be treated differently than small businesses. They can't be expected to pay the same as large companies. It creates an undue burden.
The cap-and-trade portion only affects big businesses. Or rather, only those that emit more than 25,000 metric tons of greenhouse gasses. That's roughly the equivalent of burning 130 railroad cars of coal. There are only roughly 100 businesses in Oregon that qualify. Businesses that emit less than that are exempt, as are timber and agriculture. Bob's Pizzaria does not have to buy credits for their wood-fired oven. Nor does Farmer Joe. barfo
I hate kale. Love turnip greens, mustard greens and collard greens but hate kale and there's nothing you can say that will change my mind other than eat that kale or I'm gonna shoot you in the head.
I have my kale blended with my smoothie in the morning....you shouldn't eat too much at once...it's a powerful blood thinner...replaces the aspirin but eat too much and you could get nosebleeds...my wife will never learn that...she loves the stuff
I'm on a rat poison blood thinner right now. Can't even take aspirin or advil. Went to the emergency room the other day with uncontrolled bleeding. However, I'm up for my MMA fight. I'm gonna run circles around my opponent with the aid of my walker. My motto - Don't Tread on Me (but don't hold me to it)
Oh man! I never wanted to run a chainsaw all day! When I do, I want the damn cut done, pronto. Big dead trees I take down with a big Jonserud. Little poles with a peppy little Echo, which will do most of the bucking into firewood length too.
The whole damn thing is an unnecessary intrusion. It will make no difference in the rising sea. Then calling it an emergence is deceitful, dishonest and a lie The only reason for it is to prevent a vote of the people.
