His style of game. I’d say he’s got about 3 more years at his current production. I could be wrong. Time to act now in getting him what he needs. His type personality I don’t think a championship would be as fulfilling for him as a 2nd or 3rd option on the team

Not tough at all. With the external factors trying to push Dame out of Portland, and Zion on the verge of getting a rookie max that would keep him there for at least 4-5 more years, it's a no-brainer in my mind.

If Dame even hints at asking out, that job becomes instantly better.

No one wants a Stephen Silas in Houston situation.

The pressure to win big immediately is a lot greater in Portland.

I don't know. I still think it's going to be D'Antoni. Out of all the candidates he has the experience edge. He'd also be an upgrade over Stotts. I don't think the Blazers want to go with a rookie coach.

well.....you do you....I disagree completely about that. the Atlanta Hawks organization is famous for low attendance..so is the Miami Heat and the Pelicans...we don't share ticket sales with football or baseball so we are a basketball city...that's a big draw for a coach. Big name bands won't play arena's that don't sell out....the crowd is a big part of a teams identity. Watch any G league game and tell me the crowds don't matter....the squeaking shoes echo in those games

Why is young talent relevant when a coach wants to win now?

For all their talent they've gone nowhere with it thus far. Coaches want to coach guys who know how to win.

yeah...those are better jobs than Portland's

I think every prospective coach for Portland will watch a replay of Olshey's press conference when he implicitly said the roster was just fine and the issues were all coaching

then they'll look at the roster, and see that being 12 games over .500 followed b losing a first round playoff series 2-4 was considered a major failure. Those things, added to the real possibility that Powell might not re-sign and Dame could ask for a trade any time in the next year, would tend to make coaches at least look hard at other jobs

too much pressure in the portland job and a much narrower criteria for success

The job history and security might suggest otherwise. It's good but I don't see a coach preferring that gig to Portland's.

Portland kept the same coach for 9 years...that's attractive to a coaching candidate...New Orleans changes coaches like socks

What else can I write about the subject. I have given all the info I was told, that I stand by it, and that’s it. You won’t believe it, which is fine, and we know why. So go ahead and believe what you have to.

Dame will be 31 next month. Statistically most players peak around age 27 so Dame is already past his prime. Doesn't mean he cant have a few great seasons in his 30's as Curry and LeBron have done. The odds are he will decline though.

...right, so maybe in about 3 years he will be on the backend of his "prime". I agree the onus is on winning now at all costs!

Blazers need to get moving. No reason to wait for the clippers to lose series. Just get it done. Figure it out. They know who they want. Now they have New Orleans And Washington to compete with.

That is not what I quoted. You said in your previous post that they would all sit and watch a replay of Olshey's press conference "when he implicitly said the roster was just fine and the issues were all coaching"

I really don't think his press conference means that much to anyone but Blazer fans on message boards. His press conference will not affect whether or not they interview with him, and once they do talk with him they will ask him directly what his roster plans/goals are.

Olshey fired the coach, and afterward held a press conference where he essentially dodged accountability for any issues Portland had; said the roster was not to blame; and said the new coach needed to prove his defensive bona fides, somehow, in the interview

now, maybe you're right and during the interview the prospective coach will ask what Olshey meant when he said the roster wasn't at fault. And Olshey will say something like "I know there are major holes in the roster, especially on defense, but it was convenient for me to blame Stotts for those shortcomings; don't worry, I won't blame you for the same"....yeah, sure Olshey could say something like that....or not

I think you might be underestimating the national exposure Olshey's PC received. His dodge of blame wasn't just a meme in the local media. It was noted on ESPN and TNT
