It appears to me that Ryan and the GOP are are not going to repeal Obama care. They just say they are but the reality is more of the same with some new wrinkles. The Democrats screwed up Health insurance big time by imposing a government desired out come on a business and thereby destroying the profitability of the business model. Namely, create a product that reduces the risk of a healthy pool of consumers at a profitable price while still attractive to the consumer. Forcing the industry to cover preexisting conditions and free riders like 23-26 year olds, probably makes the concept impossible. Especially since this potential pool of people is small to begin with due to most people being covered by self insured employers, military, Medicare, Medicaid and those that will not buy. Forcing this small pool to support the burden of the preexisting conditions is not workable and never can be. The Democrats knew this but they went for it as a step that was known to be flawed, would fail and the recovery would be a Single payer system. Now here comes the GOP, with a mission, but lack the guts to fix the problem. Namely get the government out of the insurance business and enable a free market to work. Put in place some aid to help the uninsured if that is the will of the country, but it is stupid to ruin the concept of health insurance to do it. The GOP is now embarked on joining the Democrats in the march to Socialized healthcare Not a Democrat will vote for it this time, just as no Republican did last time, as both know this effort while enacted, will fail. The single payer system will be the only choice to fix the debacle the GOP is now creating as the health insurance industry will be gone and the public will expecting the government to take care of them. I hope to be wrong here.
But I thought Trump promised everyone more coverage for less money? What happened to that? He wouldn't have been making promises he couldn't keep, would he? It's almost like that Obama guy promising you could keep your doctor. barfo
Congress has the right to levy a tax on us although I never quite understand this since a direct tax is prohibited. The 16th amendment was passed to make the direct income tax legal, but only on income, poorly defined as it is. But what power does Congress have to put in law that we pay a penalty to an insurance company for any friggin reason? No where is the Constitutions has Congress been granted this power! If the GOP wants to fix healthcare, they best begin by operating within the boundaries of the Constitution. I do not expect democrats to vote for this bill the Republican put forth to "fix Healthcare", but I do think it would benefit all of us if they at least insist on and hold the Republicans to following the Constitution. The is no Republican to bitch at in Oregon about this, but you Democrats can urge your representative to do at least their duty. The federal Government should not be in or interfering with the Health insurance industry, unless some Constitutional amendments are passed. "The GOP proposal to penalize uninsured people when they sign up after a coverage gap is different than the way penalties are applied under Obamacare, also known as the Affordable Care Act." http://www.cnbc.com/2017/03/09/30-m...-health-insurance-penalty-under-gop-plan.html
Sure there is, his name is Greg Walden, and he's a pretty key player in the effort to pass Trumpdontcare. barfo
You're right. What happened to the promise of being able to buy insurance across state lines? What about negotiating with prescription drug companies?
That was the Democrat plan all along. Now it seems the Republicans are going to finish the hand the Dems folded. Dammed if I know why.
Well, at least it doesnt cost $450 a month with a $12,000 deductible. Next time i get sick i may be better off trusting a douchebag in a lambo than going to the hospital. I know, i know. I should just suck it up, find some nice low income housing and sign up for Obamacare. Who needs quality of life?
Obamacare: Making people with decent jobs poor again. Is this the wealth redistribution liberals keep clamoring about? Making insurance companies richer and the middle class poorer?
Without litigation and the practice of these attorneys, Doctors breath easier. Of course, our representatives will receive total health benefits for life after they serve their one term.
Did you sleep through 2016? Trump got elected by opposing and being opposed by the establishment of both parties. Paul Ryan has little resemblance to Donald Trump politically or otherwise.
