Not quite, but you're close. The NYTimes dragged its feet on the story about Obama's pastor because they knew how damaging the truth would be when it came out. I've seen their bias too many times not to realize what their agenda is. I'm sure the NYTimes has reported many accurate things about Republicans, but they show a tangible glee when doing so, and they always hesitate to slam Democrats--especially Obama.

How many people died from a slow federal response from Katrina?

How many people died from a slow federal response from the oil disaster?

Not sure. How many people died because they refused to leave their homes, even when warned to do so? And how many died from a slow response from the city of New Orleans? Remember all those yellow school buses just sitting in the parking lot?

"People"?! What about all the fish and sea life affected by the oil spill? What about the birds and all the life forms in that fragile oceanic biosphere? What about the untold danger to the environment? I thought we were supposed to save "Mother Earth" first!!!

and realistically, how fast could the administration go anyways? The damage is done, there's nothing more they can really do in this particular instance, because it takes the owners of the equipment to fucking get their shit together and figure out a fix for this. I'm sure BP has more money than needed to cope w/this, I don't see the feds doing anything other than clamping down on regulations and sending more manpower to the gulf to help cleanup.

Huh? The "damage" has continued to mount since Day One. If Obama had gotten off his butt from the start, and jumped into action immediately, the spill might have been contained much earlier and the environmental impact been greatly minimized. But don't take my word for it. Read the editorial by the New York Times, which lays it out pretty clearly.

Again, please watch the 60mins interview. If after that you believe that the USA government should be paying for the clean up vs BP I'll respect your opinion. Right now your entire focus is blaming the government. A foreign company is recklessly operating in our country. I have a serious problem with that. I don't know why you don't.

I prefer gridlock to what President Obama is proposing.

I'm not blaming the government completely. I'm willing to see BP share the blame, as well. What's going on right now, however, is a widespread effort in the mainstream media, the White House, and the Left in general to deflect attention away from Obama's failure and put the spotlight on BP. I'm sure that 60 Minutes is part of that, as well.

You know there is already more than one memo circulating through BP that is advocating to drag their feet as long as possible on the clean up because hopefully hurricane season will take care of the oil spill problem.

Exactly right. Michael Brown was a complete dipshit who had no business running a FEMA trailer much less FEMA itself. President Bush gave him that ridiculous and undeserved support and I LOL'ed when Shooter used that line for the subject post. For the record, the ball was dropped in LA by Mayor Nagin and Gov. Blanco long before the Fedral Government should have gone in. Compare the shit job done in LA vs. the excellent job Gov. Barbour did in MS.

Fair enough. But the Dems will feel the same way when a Republican is in office again, and on and on we go forever, living in a perpetual state of purgatory. If no one can win, then no one can lose. And here we sit, forever.

Or ideas are proposed that are so common sense that both sides can agree. I do prefer less government to more, however, so gridlock isn't a terrible state for me.

maxie, i never took you as an optimist. I like it on you. lol.

I don't think common sense will ever prevail. I have no real evidence that it will happen. Perhaps I'm not looking hard enough? IMO, we're so wound around ourselves as a country right now that more and more people are becoming radicalized on both sides that sooner or later we'll be a country full of radicals representing both sides. It's not about DOING any thing any more. It's about BLAMING, and ALIGNING your opinion so you can be re-elected. Sickening.

Would ANY level of common sense sway the opinion of the radicals on this board? No.

BP is the largest oil company fully on the green energy bandwagon. Inquiring minds...
