Close. 97 up to the dalles then 84 west. Adds like 70 miles but I suppose faster than dealing with the 40 inches of snow.

Anyone here dealt with the passes in snow? I have all wheel drive. Not sure I can even put chains on my tires cuz the wheel clearance is too high

My Subaru has the same issue with wheel clearance. I’m going to pick up some Autosocks. They are approved by Oregon, California and other states as acceptable traction devices when chains are required.

With 4wd all you really need is tires with good tread preferably ATs or All Seasons rated for light snow.

finished shopping and stocked up...if roads are bad I stay home...I have a good 4 wheel drive with good clearance if I have an emergency but I don't trust people to know how to drive on ice and snow around here at all....my only real hope is that throughout the storm I still have power....that's my Xmas wish right now.

I've got some Michelins like that except they don't have any snow flakes on them.

Go to the mid West sometime and look at their cars. That's why we try not to salt our roads.

It doesn’t matter what kind of tire you have when it freezes up though. Sometimes having a nice winter tire on your car will make people feel a little too confident.

Worst storm I drove in was going to Blazers game in Sacramento around this time of year in the 90s. It was before arenas decided my cakes were a terrorist threat. I had made a beautifully decorated holiday cake and two pitchers of eggnog, one with alcohol, one without. It was pouring rain in sheets. Got dark early in December. Visibility maybe two feet. Gusty winds rocking my little Corolla. If I hadn't been delivering dessert I would have skipped the game despite having purchased a ticket.
And the Blazers lost the damn game.

I completely forgot you used to bring cakes to the arena. That was back in the BBF days
