<div class="quote_poster">CohanHater Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I think about it this way, If you were loyal to a company working on crappy projects for 6 years, then finally turned the corner, got on a good project, it got visibility and people recognized your effort, then the company decided to replace you with a new hire and move you to another crappy project because you were good at turning the old one around, you'd probably be upset initially. I don't think he's whining, just frustrated.

Knowing JRich, he'll bust his butt this offseason, and come back with a few new tricks. Will he ever be a premier player...probably not, but they'll love him in Charlotte, because they've been lacking that leader.</div>

Yeah, except that JRich really had very little to do with that turnaround. I mean, yes he was loyal to the fans (well he did request to be traded several times), yes he was here for 5 years of suckiness, yes he put up with Adonal Foyle's lame-ass, but if you look at it -- the guys who turned this thing around were Nellie, Stephen Jackson, Matt Barnes, and Baron. Those were the guys who took this team -- which was floundering and sputtering at the mid-way point -- and got RED hot to close out the season. yes JRich was here but he was injured for many games and even seemed to disrupt the flow at times when initially inserted back into the starting line-up.

With that said, JRich was great once we got into the playoffs, and overall he had a good career here. He sure as hell played his heart out.

But it wasn't as if JRich ressurrected this team. He led this team to 4 or so non-playoff seasons, before Nellie came along. Of course, no one player can do it alone. But it's not as if JRich built this team for success. He was just here, playing his hardest every night.

This is still a playoff team w/o JRich, IMO.

I disagree that this team is as good without JRich. Jason Richardson I think really improved this team's rebounding. The Warriors that made the playoffs and went to the second round was the team last year that included Jason Richardson. Not everything clicked immediately after JRich returned but after a week or so of gelling the team finally put it at top gear to just barely get the 8th spot. Also JRich was part of the 6 headed monster that was the team last season by having 6 players who could score 30 points on any given night. I think the Warriors actually had 7 players who scored 30 last year.

Also you can blame Baron Davis for being as beneficial as JRich in getting this team to the playoffs. Of course JRich isn't going to lead this team int the playoffs with Mike Montgomery as head coach, Murphyleavy and Foyle.

But looking at the West, I think you can argue that even if JRich was around they wouldn't make the playoffs. The West is going to be tough, especially with a Gasol and the Hornets roster most likely being healthier.

No, I didn't say this team is as good without JRich. I said they're still a playoff team, IMO.

They aren't as immediately threatening, but long term they have more room to maneuver and grow. Wright won't equal JRich's production this year, but having a teenager at PF who could emerge as a cornerstone PF for the team is a great asset for the future.

We will miss JRich's production this year, especially at first, but this team is still a playoff team, albeit in need of another go-to guy now that Jrich is gone. But down the road, this team has much more potential to cash in and grab some real estate in the Western Conference POs.

I think the second half of the season will be exciting. I think Bellinelli and Wright both have a chance to carve their way into the lineup, especially under Nellie. Unlike Montgomery, Nellie is not afraid to look to his bench for production. I mean, he took guys like Azibuike and Barnes, from out of nowhere, and made them starters at times.

Belly and Wright will definately have a chance to shine -- even Lasme will get a shot. And I think by the second 1/2 of the season, Monta will have stepped up and fully replaced JRich -- equalling or bettering JRich's production -- while the other young guys will have a chance. I really believe that if we are within striking distance by the break, this team will gel and make a hot surge to close out. Wright could be a starter by the time the playoffs come around. Call me a homer. [IMG]

oh by the way .... maybe we wont be blowing this team up for KG....well including Wright at least :

No KG? Warriors Sign Brandan Wright To Rookie Contract
    July 6, 2007 - 5:47 pm
    RealGM Staff Report -
The Golden State Warriors have signed Brandan Wright, the eighth overall selection in last week’s NBA Draft, to a contract, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.

Because of this contract, Wright can not be traded for 30 days.

Wright, 19, was originally selected by the Charlotte Bobcats with the eighth pick in the 2007 draft and was acquired by Golden State in exchange for Jason Richardson and the draft rights to the 36th overall pick (Jermareo Davidson). A 6-10 forward, Wright played one season at the University of North Carolina, averaging 14.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.76 blocks per game, while shooting 64.6% (228-353 FG) from the field. Wright led the Atlantic Coast Conference in field goal percentage, while also ranking sixth in the conference in blocks (65), 13th in points per game and 14th in rebounds per game. For his efforts, Wright was named ACC Rookie of the Year and was a Second Team All-ACC selection. [READ]

Awesome, boogie -- you should start a new thread about this. It is definitely headline material.

I personally will be happy if we don't get Garnett. I just think there's so much potential with this roster...

I have heard this before about Wright not being able to be traded for 30 days. However I also heard someone respond to this by saying that there is an exception to this if the player is a rookie. I am not saying this author is wrong, but there could be an exception that may make this claim to be false. Since I am more interested in the game of basketball than all of these cap and trade rules I really don't know what the exact ruling is. Perhaps I should just trust this author...

IMO the Warriors have enough big men, especially if Lasme continues to impress and Kosta Perovic signs a contract (did that actually happen or has it only been a rumor so far?). I'd be a bit skeptical about going after Darko. However I am sure you guys have seen him more than I have. Just from looking at this roster and the recent addition of Brandan Wright who is supposed to be a core part of the future, signing Darko to a big, long contract seems counterproductive to that move, along with motives to resign Monta and Andris (and who knows, extend Baron Davis' contract perhaps).

clif that does make sense. I think if we are gonna throw the bones at any player.... it has to be G Wallace. The guy is a perfect fit for our team and system with what he brings.
