Did you ever notice that the word "realist" contains the word "arse"?

Here is what happened and why I did what I did.

The Realist joined the forum and started a thread. Kind of a snarky BS / Trollish post but over the years a lot of new members are a little intimidated when first posting here so they try to show they know their shit.

I welcomed him. And then sincerely respond to his original post and try to draw him into a normal conversation. Don't care if he agrees with me.

He doesn't respond and instead starts two more threads.

Pretty much different variations of the same theme. Everyone is stupid, he has all the answers, and he can prove this by hindsight.

I merged his three threads and change the title. I did this for two reasons, first to get him into a conversation about the subjects he's posting about. The second to get others to have conversations about what he was posting instead of insulting him and dismissing what he was posting.

I then send him a private message again welcoming him to the forum and explaining why I merged his threads.

Personally I found it hilarious that he says we should trade Lillard because the rest of the team is junk but then posts that we can use that same junk to trade for Anthony Davis. But still trying to turn this into a conversation I ask him about it as I did with many of his other posts.

He starts to meltdown so I have to delete and edit a few of his posts.

I send him a second private message explaining why I deleted and edited some of his posts and asking him not to do it anymore.

Everything I did was to be as welcoming as possible and to encourage conversation and debate while trying not to allow this to turn into some argument and insult fest.

He then makes a new thread stating:

"I admit that I jumped on the bandwagon when the Blazers beat the Rockets in the first round in 2014. However, the team is terrible now. This team might not even win 25 games in the west. I hope you enjoy the suck Blazer fans. I am going to jump on the Warriors bandwagon, so I can enjoy the Dub Nation Dynasty with multiple titles. They have a young core that is poised to compete for years. Steph>Lillard, Klay>CJ and Hendo, Barnes and Iggy>Aminu, Dray>Davis and Vonleh, Bogut>Plumlee. Not to mention they also have Shaun Livingston and Festus Ezeli."

In the hour he's been here he's gone from being a Blazer fan to not being a Blazer fan, that the team sucks, the GM sucks, the fans suck and that everyone here sucks and that he doesn't want to be here anymore. I look at all of that and it seems to me that he's just here to troll. It has nothing to do with me agreeing with him or if he fits some sort of group think that you're now claiming exists here. He's not here to discuss the Blazers, he's here to claim how much smarter he is while trying to start shit. When that couldn't happen he said he was leaving. Fine, he wanted to leave so I decided to help with that and make it so he won't be back.

You're a good man Mr. Sly. You wrote an explanation/explained yourself when an explanation wasn't needed; those that have gotten pissy about the ban(s) didn't deserve an explanation for obviously fair/correct/just action IMO.

Are you that blind? What was he supposed to do after LaMarcus informed him on July 3rd that he wasn't coming back? Was he supposed to sign Wesley to a max deal? Was he supposed to resign Lopez @ 13 mil per? Was he supposed to not trade NIC Batum? All you do is complain and never come up with any solutions or ideas of what should be done. Then you blame it on the guy who pivoted correctly when the Texas turncoat showed his true colors. You crack me the fuck up sometimes man...

Ha! Well good. But you do know there wasn't much to do AFTER the horse was out of the barn. His failure occurred before.

By all the likes you got Sly, I would say you have the support of your group. But I see the realist as a disappoint Blazer basketball enthusiast, much like myself.
Funny some of these guys like to see people bann, like divisis calling PappaG and asshole. My oh my, I wish one of your supporters could be as interesting as Pappa
or as astute as the realist.

So, astute fans are bandwagon trolls? I'm just trying to gauge the barometer.

You're seeing The Realist as something even he doesn't see himself as.

Reading the response and likes in this thread I would say the forum is split 50/50 on if I should have banned him. Because of that and your posts I decided to explain myself and my actions. I feel I was as welcoming and inviting as I personally could while introducing him to this community. It came to the point to where according to his own words he had no interest in being a part of this community.

Exactly how did you think The Realist was astute? According to him he would have traded 4 of 5 starters immediately after they had defeated Houston and advanced to the 2nd round of the playoffs. No one, not even you, who I do not always agree with but enjoy your takes on the Blazers and basketball, were saying that. What is astute in saying that Lillard has "godfather" status and should be traded? I'm not even sure what the hell that even means? I did google godfather and NBA and found a list of NBA players who are godfathers to other NBA players and an article that says Olajuwan is the godfather of African basketball. Neither of these explains why we should trade Lillard. But if you find something astute in either one of those please let me know.

Mar's spelling isn't the best, but I agree with him that "ass toot" is a good description of The Realist.

I do not know what the godfather stuff means but I would trade Lillard for a PG. I do not look forward to this coming season with Lillard most likely
jacking up the three ball at a phenomenal rate, perhaps even trying to surpass Stoudamire's record for most threes missed in a game. We have a bunch of young fellows on this team
now and it would be good if they at least attempted to play basketball.

Which point guard would you trade him for? Is that team willing to trade their point guard for Lillard? Hell, I could say I would trade Lillard for Lebron or Durant and criticize Olshey for not doing it. According to you that would make me astute.
