Meh. Id rather upgrade the starting lineup. afflalo, Blake, McCollum, Freeland, Leonard and Kaman is actually a Damn good bench.
With how well Meyers is doing, we really only need to keep AAA... and with how well CJ is doing, even that's a little optional.
One of my bigger complaints about the team is energy they play with and the ho-hum attitude they carry onto the court more times than not. They are not motivated or driven like that team in the Bay Area. Could be due to circumstances. Or it could be just them. With that said, I don't think Hibbert and what he brings does anything to improve that. I will say that under the right circumstance he and LA could be a devastating force defensively. May not be a bad idea to look into it especially if #12 who seems to be acquainted with him is on board with the idea.
Definitely, his defense is a big advantage, but we won't miss the playoffs if we don't have him back.
Hibbert is a below average starting center. I'd like to add him as a backup but no way do I want a role player with serious limitations in his game taking up 8 figures of cap space. Hibbert is a poor rebounder and bad on offense. His skills are negated by teams such as the Hawks last year who spread the defense out with shooters. Hibbert is very similar to Theo Ratliff, a rotational player with value but not a starter on a contender.
I prefer Robin, because Robin is not a liability on offense like Hibbert is. He shoots a full 10% better from the field.
This article says that he is: http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports....elves-and-hassan-whiteside-with-his-contract/
Interest in Hilbert should by no means be a slam on Lopez. We have to upgrade somewhere. Robin is great but his numbers also increased once he got here.
It would be a nasty front line. Their games are similar but I think that's a positive. They both can go inside. They both can go outside. So if Gasol is in the post LA can be a threat on the Perimeter. Like wise if LA is in the post, Gasol can be a weapon the outside. Defensively, we obviously get better. It's a great idea for the perfect system for both players. If only Neil could sell them both on the possibilities. Getting one to stay and one to sign.
Hell, We don't even really know if we'll have Aldridge next season. We can only assume at this point.
Landing Marc Gasol as a free agent would make us the favorite to win the title. I wonder of the max contract figure is increasing with the increase of the cap in 2 years?
I'd be surprised if he bolts. He can't make any more money anywhere else, and he'd likely be going to a worse team. He likes it here.
We won't. But I think I want him back. None of the big man from what have seen move against his man and on defense the way this guy does. There was a moment in the season when he was starting before he hurt his shoulder this team played their best defense. And I believe he was a big reason for it.
