When 'Flip' Murray gets hot, generally so do the Sonics. Murray scored 12 of his team high 24 in a pivotal 32-18 third quarter burst to set up a 100-82 win over Portland. Seattle took advantage of the Lakers' loss to New Orleans remain the only undefeated team at 3-0. The Sonics shot 49% from the field (41-84) and 42% from beyond the arc For the Sonics, it was the same old story: Murray was efficient 9-14 shooting, with 4 boards and 6 assists thrown in for good measure. Rashard Lewis continued his hot start with 21 and 4, and he finished off strong scoring 11 of Seattle's 18 last quarter points. Brent Barry was again instrumental with 20 points and 4 assists, and Vladimir Radmanovic continued to progress at the PF position with 19 and 6, including 3-6 from downtown. Other strong contributions came from Iowa sophomore Reggie Evans who posted 11 boards in 22 minutes, and centre Calvin Booth who had 6,6 and a block in 26 minutes. For Portland, it was Rasheed Wallace with 25 and 11, and Zach Randolph with 19 and 9 did the damage for Portland. Bonzo Wells was the only other Blazer in double figures, with 13 points on 5-15 shooting. Amazing win, this team is doing just that, playing like a team. Though they played the Clippers 2 times, beat the Blazers that were playing great basketball is impressive.
Yep sure are, they started last season exactly the same way, playing great team ball, and then trailed off badly so I hope we don't have a repeat. A big factor is not having Payton - an absolute legend of the franchise and all, but with Barry running the point everyone gets more involved in offense, and it's showing.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting anadagirlballer4strt:</div><div class="quote_post">:sighs: yeah, last season their start was pretty hot too...I hope it won't turn bad....</div> True - then again Bonzi came out after the game and said Seattle aren't nearly as predictable as last season. Before you knew everything would go through Glove, now we have a whole plethora of offensive options and this unpredictability could be very beneficial. That and half the league still has no idea who Flip Murray is
