I just look at it this way. If your kids were on recess at school, playing 4-square or hopscotch, and they saw someone appear on the sidewalk of their school with a shotgun, how would you hope your. Kids responded? Personally I'd want them to head inside, tell a teacher and remain indoors until the person left or police gave the all clear.

If this idiot is scaring kids and parents, he is doing his cause a big disservice. You'll see laws passed banning any guns within 1000 yards of schools if more people follow this idiots lead. It may be legal now, but it won't stay legal if gun nuts use the lack of restrictions as reasons to scare the public.

 

Or, maybe he wants to ban guns within 1000 yards of a school, and was actually illustrating how silly he views the open carry law.

 

Concealing your weapon is a felony and can get you imprisoned for years and pretty much destroy your life, despite the fact that the law is unconstitutional.

My boys are in their 30's, but I'm not at all comfortable with my grandson being forced to be a "duck in a barrel" just to get an education. Knowing he's in a defenseless position created by banning guns in schools and then deliberately made into an appetizing target by widely advertising that it's a SAFE opportunity for any cowardly nutjob to make a name for himself without any opposition is a scary thought.

School shootings, mall shootings, church shootings...the blame for these murders is shared by those who "infringed upon" The Second Amendment and stripped the people of their only defense.

If it were your 4 year old and a person you did not know from Adam walked by his/her school with a gun, I'd bet you sure as fuck would not tell your 4 year old this is fabulous! You are protected! Some asshole walked into a mall openly holding a gun in (I believe) Arizona (some open carry state) and caused panic. Starbucks was losing customers because they were afraid of gun toting in coffee shops. There is no fucking reason except macho posturing to parade around the streets with a gun. I personally think it's compensation for small penis. As has been pointed out we are not talking about shooting ranges or hunting. And it's not the same as other objects. If I saw someone with a knife unless it was a machete I'd think they were cutting food. When I see a knitting bag I figure someone is knitting, not that he/she is going to kill a person with a knitting needle (yes it can be done). Nearly anything can be a weapon but a gun is ONLY a weapon. You don't use it to slice cake or make sweaters of saute chicken.

I think most of this thread is macho posturing "I'm a REAL MAN I am not afraid of someone toting a gun through the streets and by my kids' school". (BTW should we talk again about the Folsom Street Fair and how assholes are convinced that hurts children even though people under 18 are kept out? Or how the Texas legislature security allows open carry but confiscates women's sanitary products? Because guns don't kill people, tampons do! Parades do!)
