i agree with that entirely, which is why I did the extra research to find their records, margin of victory and offensive and defensive rankings....of course, it was all trumped by the "todays superior athletes" crap....
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Send Em Back Al)</div><div class='quotemain'>I have a question about the choice of the RAIDER team used in this tourney... Why not use the 13-1 1976 Super Bowl winning team? Or is that what you intended? The '77 defense was only slightly better than the '76 team, but the offense in '77 was about 500 yards and 6 TD's less productive than the team from '76. Just wondering...</div> it seemed odd to me too, using a team that didnt win their division and had a below average defensive ranking when the otehr Raiders team nearly went undefeated....

The 13-1 Oakland Raiders of 1976 led by Ken Stabler and coach John Madden. The year they won their very first super bowl against the Minnesotta Viking 32-14. I've got a question though. Why did Fred Biletnikoff get MVP? He only had 4 catches for 79 yards and no touchdowns. I mean Willie Brown had a 75 yd interception return for a touchdown, or even Clarence Davis. He averaged 8.6 yds per carry that game. Am i missing something???? Was it good to have 4 catches for 79 yds back then????
Freddy B. led all receivers in yardage for the game. Three of his four catches set up the short yardage TD?s for the RAIDERS (one for Casper and two for Banaszek. I was young then, but I don?t recall there being any question that he had earned it. Stabler was efficient, but not spectacular. Davis rushed for over 130 yards on only 16 carries, but didn't get into the endzone. Banaszek scored two TD?s but only ran for 19 yds. Brown's INT came late in the game with the RAIDERS up by 19 points. A great play and a greater highlight, but didn't have any effect on the outcome.

He was the key to the scoring of the game.
