Anyone got Insider? I'm curious where Oden is on his list. I have a hunch he's pretty high, I imagine him going like "OK he's on the shelf, but he was third in PER among centers playing over 20 minutes, just 21 years old etc." or something like that. Kind of hurts to just think about it, but still I wanna know what he had to say.

    10. Greg Oden, Portland Trail Blazers
Oden is a more effective player than several of the ones ahead of him on this list, but the fact that he's played only one-third of his possible career games forces me to drop him to 10th. Before fracturing his patella this past weekend, Oden, 21, was enjoying a breakout season, averaging nearly a point every two minutes on 60.5 percent shooting and ranking third in rebound rate. Despite missing the past three games, he's still second in blocks (2.3 per game), which is pretty impressive considering his limited minutes (23.9 a game).

What holds down his minutes, however, is that Oden still has issues with committing fouls. Thus, his problems staying on the court exist on two levels -- staying healthy enough to put on the uniform and preventing the clumsy fouls that have plagued his career thus far. But when he plays extended minutes, he can dominate.

My opinion of Hollinger is not being improved. Al Jefferson 7 places higher than Oden? Seriously?

You can't photocopy a whole book and give away copies just because you paid for the book.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Hollinger has generally been very high on Oden, but from his comments immediately after Oden's injury and this ranking, he clearly doesn't have much faith that Oden will ever be healthy enough to be a consistent contributor. It's a viewpoint I can understand, even if I think he's being a bit too pessimistic.

At least this should allay your concerns that Hollinger slavishly goes by PER. ;)

    Lopez is too low.

    Unless you're Google.

Of course, there are these amazing things called libraries (although probably not for much longer).

Fair enough. But it's funny how high Bynum and Jefferson, who have both also had serious injuries, are ranked.

And at the time I thought that was a bad thing... At least then he had something that made him unique. Now he's proved he can produce lists as random as the average blogger.

I'm pretty sure abiding by the law is common to a lot of places, not just BBB.

I removed it, actually. Ed, being the ace lawyer that he is, just understood why I did it. ;)
