Exactly! Remember: 1) we have a lot of scorers. Oden doesn't have to be a huge volume scorer for us. He just has to defend like crazy. By the description, he did that, and his team won handily while he was on the court. 2. It's not Lopez v. Oden. It's team v. team. See point 1. 3. He was playing with a bunch of gunners. The nearest thing to a PG was Rose, who is more Dwyane Wade than Jason Kidd. The only pass I saw him attempt to deliver to Oden was bad. 4. (to repeat) players like Oden look bad in run'n'gun pickup-game type environments. Particularly as Oden does not DEMAND THE BALL. But Miller will make sure he gets it whether he asks for it or not.
Well said. Agreed all around. Alot of people don't want to look at the nuances. How he wasn't ranked above Green and Derrick Rose based on stats is beyond me. Plus he absolutely did his appointed task. Rebound (10) and defend. According to most reports he played great defense on Lopez other then failing to close out quick enough on Lopez hoisting up a long ball. Something tells me we won't see many Lopez 22 footers next year.
Oden's upper body is massive, but he doesn't look to have the strongest legs. In fact his legs look skinny to me . . . maybe it's the angles and all.
