Not on mine (2007) . . . I love my fujitsu, but I would probably love any 55 inch plasma.

I didn't really shop it (research fujitsu) . . . the guy setting up my system dealt in samsung and fujitsu. So I put a small LCD samsung in my bedroom and a big fujitsu in the living room. Kind of a spur of the moment had to make a decision . . . type of decision.

He did a great job (love the way the TV hangs on the wall without seeeing any cords) and is local in case any wants a referral.

Yeah, a-holes predominate this sphere (perhaps that's why I feel so comfortable). It's like wine tasting for the ears. If you ever read reviews, it just screams "fraud". Actually, one of the best out there is Tony Cordesman, who was a security analyst for ABC and CNN. He has a great ear.

For me, I just enjoy music. I don't do much critical listening, if at all. I know a couple of people who have really great ears and listen to stuff all the time. We hear things similarly and when they recommend something to me, I take their advice seriously.

They didn't have a SACD option when I bought it. I really wanted the Krell Evolution setup (preamp, monoblocks and SACD player), but I thought a car was more practical.

As for music, I listen to everything and anything. I have a fairly large music collection. The biggest problem with that system is it reveals EVERYTHING, so you can't play a lot of stuff on it. So, REO Speedwagon's 1976 "R.E.O." (aka "The Cow Album") is out. However, Dexter Gordon's "One Flight Up" is unbelievable. Also, it tends to spoil you when listening to other systems, even if they're decent.

My wife wants me to sell my system. She wants to install a whole-house system that includes a tuner, like the Linn Knekt.

    Are you in Oregon, Bob?

It wasn't until I moved to Texas that I started seeing a lot of media rooms. We have one in our house now, and it's awesome.

My kids love it because like you, the players and cartoon characters are pretty much life size if not bigger. I don't quite have the sound system you have yet though. If someone tells me an easy way to show a pic I would be happy to.

I live in Vancouver. I saw your post in BeerBoy's tv thread. Sounds like you've got a pretty nice setup going. Would love to see what you got. I think I used google's picasa to show my photos. If you upload them to the picasa site, from there you can link them here. Use the embed feature. There's also some other free photo sites like photobucket which work the same way. Post some pics!!!

That's the best part. I spent a TOTAL of about $1500. That includes EVERYTHING, including the $285 I spent on installation of the electrical outlets because I lack the confidence/know-how to do it myself.

I bought a 50" panasonic HD a couple years ago, but we just moved to a new house that's set up (including speaker and electrical wiring) for a ceiling mounted projection system. Now, I'm vaguely excited to have the current tv break down so that I have an excuse to switch to projection.

That is wonderfully awesome! Do you have hookups with people who get you good deals or where did you go?

Basically it was patience that paid off for me. I found the projector used with less than 2 hours on it. This was in a home theater forum. Paid 900 if I remember correctly. New I think it was going for about 1200. Screen came from craigslist, brand new. Company going out of business deal. Made an offer which was excepted. I did hunt and research the right projector for months, so really patience is the key. However it can be done for less than 2K easily shopping retail. Just stay away from WorstBuy. :devilwink:

It was mentioned in this thread, but after a while you stop reflecting on how amazing it sounds. It takes listening to another system to remember how good it is. As for finding stuff, I've tried audiogon, but have had better luck having a dealer in NYC track down items for me. Audiogon is great, but it's a competitive market and you end up paying fair market value.

About a week ago I bought a 50" Samsung Plasma from Best Buy for my apartment at college. I was about to buy a 42" before seeing the TV on sale for $799, I believe it was usually $999.

Anyways, I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for speakers for the TV? Trying not to break the bank for some..

Speakers only? I'm assuming a surround (5.1). Would you need a receiver as well?
