<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Magic Johnson:</div><div class="quote_post">This isn't really about basketball if you ask me. Now it's a question of ethics. I don't really care nor know who is, but if they're truly sincere people, then what's the problem?</div>Yes this subject DOES have to do with the NBA since we are discussing the possible consequences that a player would face if he indeed did come out of the closet while still in the nba. The fact is, either there are no homosexuals in the nba or they are just too afraid to come out and admit it for obvious reasons.

<font color="Red">btw- This thread isn't about "which players look or seem gay." </font>

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting WhiteManCanJump:</div><div class="quote_post">If the homosexual NBA players actually came out of the closet, it would be intriguing to see the reaction from his teammates and the NBA in general. I know a lot of players wouldn't mind, but I'm sure some players would. A large percentage of men (as a generalization, I know you aren't) are to a level homophobic.</div>As a whole, I don't think it would be accepted by the NBA or atleast its players. There are too many players who I think would be offended. For me personally, I couldn't root for a gay player but that has to do with my personal beliefs.

Like I said, if confronted with the topic head on, I don't think the NBA would react that much different than the NFL. I guess once one person has enough courage to put it out there, we will see the outcome.</div>I don't plan on seeing anyone come out of the closet anytime soon.

I think this is a very interesting topic. I myself have frequently wondered about homosexuality amongst the NBA. In a league of 400 players, there has to be at least 20 who are not heterosexual.

I believe that most players would not treat gay teammates well, since stereotypes still exist. I do not want to admit this, but my best friend is gay. When I found that out, I was shocked and was wary of him, since I actually had suspicions of him liking. However, through time, I found out that homosexuals are not different from heterosexuals. They still do the same things as us, but their bedmates are simply different.

I'll say by the responce here yeah...things like this shouldn't matter, but in the society we live in,it does, and quite frankly it's too bad

I Could care less if Shaq decided that he's a Homo,or C-Webber...there personal life doesn't affect me if i cheer for them or not

But than again we do live in a society where there's a lot of homophobic people(i'm not saying no one here is)and it does matter, cause they make it matter

I actually have a relative that is a lesbian but I don't treat her any different because I disagree with her lifestyle.

If one of my favorite players came out of the closet I would be disappointed.

According to Francisco Elson, KG is included in that 5% [IMG].

But in all seriousness, I saw some story on the news about a former NFL player that was gay and they interviewed him and he said that he had to hide it and always made sure he had some women or a groupie on his shoulder at all times so people would never suspect it or anything and he never told anybody about it until he retired. I can't remember his name though but I think it made national news at the time.

I also think he wrote a book about it.

Well, the sexuality of a player may affect his fan-base. To tell you the truth I suspect quite a few players. Here's a list of the players that I think seem to be pretty gay:

-David Wesley: seems like he's got that kind of look, you know?
-Tyronn Lue: He was grabbing at AI a little TOO much in the finals vs. LA [IMG]
-Zoran Planinic: Eh, well has that look.
    -Courtney Alexander: no real reason
    -Richard Jefferson: Eh........
    -Tony Battie: no real reason

Those are just guys off the top of my head....I'm just kidding though, I really have no idea, nor do I care.

Yes he did Rudezzy...His name was Billy Bean, but it created a lot of confusion...everybody thoought it was Billy Beane the A's GM,even though there were the same age,and their names were similiar

There was a book by a former MLB Umpire..the guys name was Dave Pallone.his book was a best selling one

I agree. I like the way everyone is discussing this matter with a mature point of view.

Me- And how did you came up with this type of conclusion? Did you base this prediction on any factual information? Unless someones comes out the closet, there is no proof that anyone in the Nba is gay. There could be a possibility that everyone is straight. Even Tmac couldn't justify his statement when he was question by the press.
