Yes, Thriftway became Albertson's on Boones Ferry. There is a Thriftway on Stafford near McVey.

I vaguely remember that bowling alley although I never went there for two reasons.
    1. I had no money for bowling;
    2. The farthest South I ever got was Sucker Creek and George Rogers park.

I don't recall a Kienows. That must have happened after we moved. Was it in that little shopping center across from the Lake theater? That shopping center had a Western Auto and that's where I bought my three speed bike.

My mom helped start the Oswego Civic theater. The first showing was 'Harvey'.

My mother also helped start Oswego's first water festival. She got Hilo Hattie to headline the event.

I don't know if the Piggly Wiggly was still there when you were a boy but that's where I sold a lot of newspapers and spent all my spare time reading Superman comic books for free.

Mr. Halverson is the one who developed Mountain Park. I remember going out to their island when I was about 10 along with the rest of my class which included Karen Halverson. My eyes popped out of my head when I saw they had an elevator back in the late 50s. What a mansion.

Yes, Thriftway became Albertson's on Boones Ferry. There is a Thriftway on Stafford near McVey. It was Thriftway on State St. Now Albertson's. Across State St. from the old Beachcomber.

I vaguely remember that bowling alley.... Palisades Lanes on McVey

I don't recall a Kienows. That must have happened after we moved. Was it in that little shopping center across from the Lake theater? That shopping center had a Western Auto and that's where I bought my three speed bike. Keinow's was on B St. Near State St. I believe it's now a drugstore.

First and B is where the original Safeway was. Maybe Keinow's occupied that building. Right across first street from Safeway on the West side was the original location of the Oswego Review.

Keinow's was right across the (B) street from Newton's Ice Cream. Remember them?

@ABM = Atlanta Blazer Man asking about "HOOD-ism's" which in and of itself is seriously off putting and borderline racist if not completely racist, IMO AND, Atlanta is also the 2nd largest majority black metro area in the entire country. I know ABM is a long time member, as am I, and he's come out saying Trump is the "best option" given between the two parties, and starting a "HOOD-ism" thread?. Anyone else catching on to this? Yikes. It adds up so, so, so bad. Sorry ABM. Terrible look. Did one of the Trumpers here recruit you to come back? That they were outnumbered and needed another white dude to balance shit out?

I'd like to clarify that statement. Not "another white dude" as I'm white, but perhaps another Trump supporter?

Read through the thread. You might get some clarity.

Oh I read it. I saw a lot of deflection from the original intent (through humor and other things). I TOTALLY read through it just to make sure I wasn't wrong. I stand by my statement. I don't feel you really backed up your statement, your intent, and your backing of Trump (in a different thread, which I read as well) and is integrated in my opinion. It doesn't pass the sniff test. Sorry. Again, I know you're a long timer here. And I've never seen this part of you. But I see it now. You're not just some old guy that isn't "aware" of "HOOD-ism's" - I mean seriously. "HOOD-ism's?" Fuckin' A. Wow. So tone def at best. Enjoy Trump.

@ABM Lots of words in popular American vernacular were absorbed into the English language. It always happens. The word "tote" is an African word. The word "difficult", a word used in everyday American vernacular, was "borrowed" from the French word "difficile", and the Latin "difficilis".

Here's the thing and facts are just facts... And you know what... Love us... We enrich your very lives....

From our talk to our walk to our dress to our swag, the Black American Male is the most copied entity on the planet...

To our DANCE!! The South and North Koreans do a Hip Hop dance battle AT THE DMZ... Think about that and let that sink in...

If you're upset at the so called "hoodisms" that have been appropriated by white people since the beginning of time,

Why don't you tell them to stop STEALING SHIT....

I mean really?? You mad bro?? I really hope not because Black people make shit cool... At 3:05:

My understanding of all of this is that Langston Hughes and guys like Thelonious Monk and Louie Armstrong, Allen Ginsburg, Dick Gregory, Bessie Smith, Professor Longhair and the jazz cats added a wealth of phrases and words to modern language and it stretched way beyond English....you find it in Germany, France, Holland, Ghana...….everywhere....even the word cool....the word dope I'm sure predates the hip hop New York 80s scene but those guys grew up around the jazz cats and the beat poets...poetry always enters language...I doubt it was anymore Run DMC than it was Cab Calloway

You need to get a clue. Really quickly,

How many black fathers do you know personally?

    And tell the fucking truth.
