I don't disagree, but to me the bigger need is a physical presence on D. In a perfect world we can get both, but given the choice I take the big crease clearer. Like I said, to me we have no big physical presence on D at all. No one forwards are scared of. And that is not a good thing when you want to win a cup. As for Girardi, he is still very good. He is not what he was last year or two years ago, but he is still a very good dman. I wouldn't go nuts and give him a 6 mill per deal, but if we could get him for 4 years and 18 or so mill total, I would think long and hard about doing it. On the flip side, as the trade DL approaches if we get some real big offers for Girardi, I would think long and hard about doing that as well, double so if he is asking for 5 years + and over 5 mill per on his new contract. To me the return we can get for him, combined with what he is asking for in a new a deal, should dictate how we handle Girardi at the trade DL. It is that simple to me. If we didn't get a clear HR of a deal that would help us next season and the season after, I would bring him back if he was reasonable on his asking price for a new deal.
It's going to take 3-4 moves to fix this team. Hopefully, GM's become stupid at the deadline like they do every season.
They should send DZ Kristo and a 5th rounder for Glencross and get the ball rolling. Then work on adding a dman. If they are out of it in March then deal Girardi for pick and prospect.
You love overpaying beyond belief 71. I wouldn't offer MDZ for Glencross straight up. Glencross is close to 30 and he's a role player.
Ok take out the 5th rounder. Glencross is a 20 goal guy whos only 30 and signed for a few years. DZ wont bring back anything more than a 5th dman or 4th liner on his own.
My ass. MDZ will bring back a top return. When he starts playing better all these imbecile GM's will be offering up a lot again for him.
